Lyras pov

The medical team arrived quickly, and I watched as they examined my injuries. Deon stayed by my side, his presence a small comfort amidst the chaos. He was silent, but his anger was palpable, and I could see it in his eyes every time he glanced at me.

The doctor cleaned my cuts and tended to the bruises, offering a few reassuring words. "You'll be sore for a while, but you'll heal," he said, finishing up. "Just make sure to rest and avoid any unnecessary stress."

Deon nodded curtly, his gaze never leaving me. Once the doctor had finished, I leaned back in the chair, feeling more exhausted than ever. My energy had been drained, both physically and emotionally.

"Thank you," I managed to say, looking up at Deon. "For being here."

He offered a tight smile. "It's the least I can do after what you've been through. I'm going to make sure something like this never happens again."

I nodded, but a twinge of unease remained. "What's going to happen to Alessandra?"

Deon's expression hardened. "She's crossed a line that can't be ignored. I'll deal with her, and you have my word that she won't be a threat to you-or anyone else-again."

I swallowed, trying to push aside the lingering fear and pain. "What about Mr. Vico and his family?"

Deon sighed, sitting down across from me. "Mr. Vico is already dealing with his daughter's actions. I'll make sure they understand the severity of this situation. The Vico family's influence is significant, but they've made a serious mistake. They'll pay the consequences for allowing Alessandra's behavior to continue."

I took a deep breath, absorbing his words. There was a part of me that still felt uneasy, unsure of what exactly would unfold next. But Deon's determination was clear, and it was a small comfort amidst the uncertainty.

"Can you tell me what's going to happen next?" I asked, my voice wavering slightly. "I need to understand what to expect."

Deon nodded, leaning forward. "For now, focus on recovering. I'll handle the fallout from this incident and ensure you're safe. If you need anything, don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here for you."

I managed a faint smile, appreciating his support. "Thank you, Deon. I just... I want things to get back to normal."

Deon's eyes softened, a rare moment of empathy in his otherwise hardened demeanor. "We'll get through this. I promise you that. For now, just focus on healing, and let me handle the rest."

With that, Deon stood up, his expression resolute. He left the room, and I sat quietly, trying to absorb everything that had happened. The pain and the fear were still there, but I felt a glimmer of hope. Deon's promise gave me a sense of security, and I clung to it as I began the process of healing, both physically and emotionally.

Deon's pov

I paced back and forth in my office, frustration and concern gnawing at me. Lyra's injuries were a stark reminder of the kind of danger she faced, and it only fueled my resolve to take decisive action. The Vico family's transgressions against her were unacceptable, and it was time to make it clear that such behavior would not be tolerated under my watch.

I picked up my phone and dialed Vincent. He answered on the second ring.

"Vincent," I began, my voice steady but firm. "I need you to organize a meeting with our closest allies. We need to address the Vico family's latest mistake and ensure they understand the repercussions of their actions."

Vincent's tone was equally serious. "Understood. I'll get everyone together as soon as possible."

I ended the call and turned my attention to the other pressing matter. I needed to make sure that Lyra felt safe and secure, and that meant addressing the Vico family and ensuring no further harm came to her. But it also meant taking measures to make her feel more at ease in my home.

Harper entered the office quietly, her face etched with worry. "Deon, how is she?"

"She's recovering," I said, looking out the window. "But we have a lot of work to do to ensure her safety and to address what happened."

Harper nodded. "What do you need me to do?"

"I need you to make sure Lyra is comfortable and has everything she needs," I instructed. "And keep her updated on what's going on, without overwhelming her. She needs to know she's safe, but she also needs to feel that things are under control."

Harper's eyes softened. "Of course. I'll take care of it."

As she left the room, I couldn't shake the feeling of anger and frustration. I knew that confronting the Vico family would be a necessary step, but it was also a reminder of how high the stakes were in this world. It was a constant balancing act between power and protection, between ensuring justice and maintaining alliances.

My phone buzzed with a message from Vincent, confirming the meeting time. I took a deep breath and prepared myself for what was to come. The meeting would be a critical opportunity to show that we wouldn't tolerate such behavior and to reinforce the boundaries that needed to be respected.

I walked out of the office and headed toward Lyra's room. I knocked gently on the door, hoping to offer her some reassurance.

"Lyra," I called softly. "It's Deon. May I come in?"

There was a pause before I heard her quiet response. "Yes, come in."

I opened the door and stepped inside. Lyra was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking tired but alert. Her gaze met mine, and I could see the vulnerability behind her eyes.

"I just wanted to check on you," I said, sitting down across from her. "How are you feeling?"

Lyra managed a small smile. "Better, thank you. I'm still a bit shaken, but I appreciate you checking in."

I nodded, my expression serious. "I want you to know that we're taking steps to ensure this doesn't happen again. I'm meeting with our allies to address the Vico family's actions. You don't have to worry about them being a threat to you anymore."

Her eyes widened slightly, a mix of relief and curiosity. "What's going to happen to them?"

"I'm making it clear that their actions have consequences," I said firmly. "They need to understand that crossing the line with me will not be tolerated. This is about protecting you and making sure everyone under my roof is safe."

Lyra nodded, absorbing my words. "Thank you, Deon. I really do appreciate everything you're doing."

I stood up and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Just focus on getting better. I'll handle the rest."

As I left her room, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. The meeting with our allies would be a crucial step in restoring order and ensuring Lyra's safety. I wouldn't rest until I had made it clear that she was under my protection and that no one would threaten her again.
