I was Drowning

I was drowning inside,
But nobody saw me struggling,
The water clinging to my pale skin,
My silent screams of hopelessness are lost in the depths.

Every sharp breath a battle,
a fight to stay afloat
in an ocean of unseen tears,
waves crashing against the jagged rocks of my soul.

The weight of the water,
pressing against my chest,
each drop a painful memory,
a fragment of pain,
pulling me deeper
into the abyss.

The surface is a distant dream,
a place where air is free
and light dances on the water,
but I remain below,
where shadows whisper my name
and the current pulls harder,
dragging me back
to the things I wish to forget.
