Shit, my heart's racing, Yoko thought, closing her eyes for a moment to steady herself, trying to calm the adrenaline surging through her veins. When she opened her eyes, Faye was already gone, having left the office silently.

She means it. Her eyes said it all. The cold, unwavering look Faye had given her lingered in Yoko's mind. That woman... she would kill me slowly. Worry and fear momentarily etched themselves onto Yoko's face. But the unease only lasted a few seconds. Good thing an elite nanny never fails, she reminded herself, steeling her nerves.

Yoko had made up her mind. No matter how intense Faye's warning had been, she wasn't going anywhere. She had a duty, a responsibility to protect Mikey. And that's exactly what she was going to do.

As Yoko stepped out of Faye's office, she spotted Adam standing there, casually holding her suitcase and laptop bag. "I can take those," Yoko said, keeping her voice steady despite the whirlwind of emotions still swirling inside her.

Adam paused mid-step and turned around, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "You've done enough heavy lifting today," he teased.

What is this guy talking about now? Yoko thought, narrowing her eyes. "What's that supposed to mean?" she asked, clearly not in the mood for his cryptic remarks.

Adam's grin widened, clearly enjoying himself. "Heard you're staying. Nice work." He gave her a quick nod of approval. "I'll take these upstairs. You should check out the rest of the house. It's home for the next year..." He lowered his sunglasses in a dramatic fashion, his voice dropping to a mock-serious tone, "...unless something goes horribly wrong."

I can't tell if he's rooting for me or hoping I fail, Yoko thought, watching Adam's retreating figure as he sauntered away like he was the star of his own action movie.

Shaking her head, Yoko couldn't help but smirk. We'll see about that. Might as well explore this mansion so I know the layout, Yoko muttered to herself.

As she stepped into the hallway, a wave of excitement surged through her. Her eyes widened at the sheer grandeur of the space. The glossy marble floors beneath her seemed to stretch endlessly, reflecting the soft light that streamed in through the towering glass windows. Everything gleamed, polished to perfection.

Yoko ran her fingers along the sleek surfaces of the modern kitchen, her touch barely skimming the cool, polished countertops. Wow. She couldn't help but be impressed by how pristine and futuristic everything looked. Moving into the expansive living area, her gaze was drawn upward to the contemporary art adorning the walls. Each piece was a burst of color and creativity, making the place feel less like a cold mansion and more like a gallery with soul.

It's so fancy... like a small palace. Yoko marveled at the blend of luxury and cutting-edge design in every room she explored. In fairness, Faye has some good taste when it comes to the house.

As Yoko stepped outside, the exterior of the mansion came into full view. The surroundings were equally as impressive, but what really caught her attention was the heightened sense of security. The ten-foot walls surrounding the property loomed high, topped with sharp wire that glistened menacingly in the sunlight. Guards patrolled the perimeter, their expressions stern and vigilant.

Shit! That's one of the 'kidnappers' from earlier, Yoko thought as she recognized one of the guards, his face set in the same stern expression from the staged kidnapping.

With a smirk, Yoko glanced his way and called out, "No hard feelings, right?" Her voice lightened with humor as she walked past.

The guard didn't respond, his stoic demeanor unchanged, but Yoko didn't need a reply. She kept walking, still amused by the whole situation, but the mansion and its layered defenses left her feeling both awed and reminded of the gravity of her new role.
