Subject 1 propped his head up on his arm as he looked out of his sleeping chamber, if you could really call it that. It was a simple box shaped alcove carved into the wall just big enough for one person to sleep in; It wasn't comfortable, but it was all he had. He looked around the rest of his holding cell, his night vision, letting him take in the space. It was also simple, though the correct word would be barren; they had a curtain cutting off the bathroom from the rest of the room and a camera to watch them mounted in the corner, pointed at the exit door. However, that was all there was. They weren't allowed anything else.
He was the first of all the subjects and had been in this cell the longest he had super strength, enhanced hearing, enhanced reaction speed, and, of course, night vision. The downside to his powers was that he was always hungry, he had to be given a special supplement because all of his bodily functions were preforming at an enhanced rate so normal people food didn't cut it and he was left, entirely colorblind when the lights went out. His testing seemed so standard compared to what the scientists kept saying he could be capable of. They called him a worthy successor to 'Prototype Zero', It was just the two of them for years until they took Zero away for testing, and he never returned. Subject 1 had seen Zero's files, it was horrific to see the word 'Terminated' written in bold red letters he had never gave a second thought about his own treatment in the chambers and how disposable he was, untill the others arived.
He looked up to the other holes in the wall to see the spot where subject 2 was sleeping. Leaning out of the shelf, he called a bed he looked up at, subject 2. Whom was sleeping with his butt up in the air, and his face pressed so firmly against the wall that his ears touched his shoulders. When not sleeping in what had to be the most uncomfortable positions known to man, 2 was an amazing magic user. His spells, according to the scientists, could alter the fabric of reality. Although, while he could do countless amazing things, he couldn't completely rewrite reality outside of his immediate influence. 2's seemingly infinite ultra strong power wasn't exactly controllable, and the scientists hate when they don't have complete control.
Letting his eyes drift down again immediately next to him was subject 3 he was lying on his back with his hands neatly folded beneath his naval. If it wasn't for 1 hearing the soft breaths and heartbeat of 3, it wouldn't surprise him if someone could have mistaken 3 for being dead since he never moved from that position. Subject 3 was a breath of fresh air in terms of what his power could do. Unlike his elder subjects, he had a specialty in healing, 3 could take the energy of anything from creatures to electronics and turn it into a healing force. Although it came at a steep cost potentially damaging the target of the drain. The only reason he isn't claimed as most dangerous is that he isn't overtly violent or uncooperative, often targeting himself to pull energy from. 3 is the eldest of the only set of twins in the group of subjects, although the scientist who said they were twins got kicked out of the project and likely killed. Something about not letting them get attached to each other, although they don't function well without the other.
Sliding his eyes back up, he looked to the only 'cot' that 1 couldn't see a person inside of. Subject 4 had a habit of curling into a tight ball when sleeping, his knees so close to his chest that he really should have a hard time breathing. 4 was a surprise to the scientists. They didn't expect him to appear with 3 in the embryonic tube. When trying to scan for what potential powers 4 had, the technology they were using kept glitching out or overheating. The scientists didn't like that, so they put 4 through some of the most intense physical and metaphical testing 1 had ever heard of, calling him 'Anomaly' more than his subject number. He was tough, so he always put up a fight, especially for his twins' sake. When the scientists tried to separate them, it had adverse effects on them, 3 and 4 became iratable and sluggish until they returned to each other's side.
The twins were a deadly combo, 3 could pull on a nearly infinite power source, and 4 had a place to put the overflow of energy he generates. When left unchecked, both of the twins had a dangerous outburst that subject 2 called crashing. 1 had to admit that the name was accurate, seeing as both tended to black out afterward. Subject 3's outburst involved him absorbing in all ambient energy in the room, causing electronics, and perhaps even people to die if they got too close. Subject 4 had the opposite outburst, and a discharge of powerful electricity erupted from him electrocuting everything in range in a chaotic burst. From that point on, the twins were not to spend more than three days apart. The scientists had learned that the hard way.
Glancing past subject 3 and to the other side of the wall was subject 5. He was sleeping on his side with his back to the open air, subject 1 smerked to himself, finally a normal sleeping position. The scientists had seen how uncontrollable subjects 2, 3, and 4 could be, so they decided to pivot hard in the opposite direction. 5's power is about priscision strikes and controlled movements. He could never miss his shot. 1 was always amazed whenever he and the other subjects were allowed to watch the others go through testing. 5 could summon firearms with infinite ammo, no larger than a semi-automatic riffle, and make an object that is physically incapable of bouncing, ricochet to hit his target. 5 could also see thousands of kilometers away, although that meant he had a very singular focus on anything and had a hard time with multiple targets at once something the others had no issues with.
He was more docile that 4 by a wide margin but he was still not entirely obedient to the scientists, 5 could often be seen mouthing off to them or missing his shots on purpose to mess with thier gathered data. He, like subjects 1 and 3, took on a caretaker role even though he was the youngest for a period of time. He was often the first to comfort one of the others when testing was a bit more rough than usual. He was also the one to start calling them brothers, something they could never say when the scientists were watching. They were lucky that the camera in the cell didn't record audio with how casually 5 said that word.
His eyes finally rose up the wall to the last sleeping subject. Subject 6 was sleeping on his side, too. However, he had his face visible. The last of the subjects to be created using the last of the five DNA samples they were made from. The scientists almost didn't introduce him to the chambers so as not to have the other subjects' influence 6. Despite their hesitation, he made a perfect addition to their group. He could alter time by how much; that was something only the scientists knew. He had a very soothing presence for all the subjects, 4 in particular mentioned the soft ticking sound that accompanied 6 was relaxing. The scientists were especially pleased bringing 6 to the testing chambers because all of the subjects would be more willing participants to avoid 6 becoming a target. He didn't speak, and 5 apologized to 6 for that, thinking it was somehow his fault. All the subjects had moments where they spoke out of turn 5. they just did it more frequently because he was rarely punished for it.
Subject 6 hadn't been around for a long time but with his arrival the 5 elder subjects all decided that it was finally time to escape; they had all agreed that in the morning they would leave the chambers forever. They had already destroyed all of the data they could find on themselves and the experaments they had gone through. All that was left leaving, they had come up with a good plan. Subject 2 would turn himself 1, 3, 5, and 6 into a handful of marble sized glass beads while 3 ran for it. He was the fastest of all of them and had practically memorized the patterns of the gaurds with how often he was brought out of the chambers. They just had to hope that their true creator was waiting out there for them, with open arms. He just wanted them to be free, free from itchy beige uniforms, free from scientists, free from testing, free to have names and identities outside of the numbers. He wanted them to be happy. He promised each of them that he would protect them.
