SUNDATE
I am out here in my balcony, about 400 feet above the ground. I look around and all I can see are the clear skies, the towering buildings and the rising sun, such a beautiful sight. These days don't come around often but when they do, you realize how great life is. I've been busy, yes, for a couple of years now. Usually I start my day drinking milk or eating a cup.. no, two to three cups of ramen before I leave and go to work without even bothering to admire this side of life.
I took a deep breath, I should take things more slowly ... I thought. Looking at the horizon before me, certain faces appeared to my thoughts... "Its been a while.." I smiled and a plan was decided in a flash.
Its been two months since I returned here in Tokyo but this will be the first time- in a long time that I'll be visiting my parent's grave in Yanaka cemetery, just 25 minutes away from Shinjuku- where my current condominium unit is located. Its been eight years but it seems like yesterday when they went to that party and encountered that accident on their way home.
I bought some flowers along the way, mostly yellow dandelions and red lilies, mom loves them. After a not so long travel I finally reached my destination. The eerie feeling still greets me as it always does every time I set foot inside these huge steel gates, just not as bad during my teenage years though.
Changes also took place in this spot, trees already grew bigger and more marble stones were added on the grass. I maybe gone for some years but that didn't stopped me to easily locate my parents' graves.
"Yo!.. mom, dad! long time no see ei.. " I smiled and placed the flowers in between the two marble flats.
I slumped myself at the grass and slowly cleared the marble surface from dried leaves, carefully tracing my mom's picture, colors slightly faded.
"You're idiot of a son is back mom ... I bet if you're here with me you'll hit my head with your pan" I let out a small laugh imagining the scene.
Suddenly ...
BAMMM....
"Ouch!" I cried, something hard just hit me. I immediately touched the back of my head where the pain registered. I looked around but I saw no one, and suddenly I felt goosebumps... slowly I looked at mom's picture.
"M-M-mom ..ah, I'm j-just joking...-ttebayou" I stuttered.
Again I scanned the whole place and I noticed a small white ball a few feet away from me.
"Huh? where that came from?" I said as I stood up and paced towards the small ball that turns out to be a baseball.
"Is this the one that hit me" I scanned the place, seems no one is around.
"That's strange" I shrugged.
"Hey mister that's mine... " I heard someone speak behind me, I turned around but I saw no one.
"Where are you looking at?!" the small voice asked sarcastically. I looked down, and my eyes grew big at the sight of who the owner is.
"You.. you're"
"I'm what? just give me my ball mister" the familiar little boy extend his small hand asking for the ball.
"You're Hinata's son right?" I scoot down so I can face him at eye level. He got the eyes of his mother, same shape but different color, same color as mine.
"And you're the one who made mom cried the last time" before I can study this little boy more, he replied, his voice a bit high trying to emphasize that he did not want me talking to him more.
