Hermione had pointed out Harry and Ron's absence early on into the feast, causing Y/N's anxiety to spike. They had apparently been missing from the train as well, leaving Hermione to sit with a couple of other students in the lower grades.

"You should have sat with us," Y/N frowned, keeping an eye out for the two missing wizards."You know you're always welcome to join us."

"Yes, but I ran into Neville and sat with him, Ginny, and this other first year, Luna Lovegood," she shrugged.

"She wouldn't have been much company anyways," Angelina interjected, joining the conversation. "She was too busy sleeping on George."

Y/N's face flared from embarrassment and she chucked a napkin in Angelina's direction. "I was tired!"

"I didn't mind, so don't overthink it," George said. He was seated beside her, so it wasn't surprising that he heard her.

The sorting for the first years came and went seamlessly. The usual roars sounded from each house as a new student joined their ranks and welcomes were shared at the end of the ceremony. The feast that followed was as rowdy as usual, especially with Fred and George's loud jokes and threats to prank their fellow students.

They were halfway into the feast when the doors to the Great Hall opened, revealing two scrawny looking boys. Hermione let out a sigh tinged with both relief and annoyance as she watched the two boys stagger over to the table. Y/N eyed the ghost of terror on their faces, mentally deciding that she would rather not know...at least for now.

Hermione immediately leaned in to harshly whisper to the boys, likely interrogating them about their whereabouts. However, it was clear from Harry's wave that she would not be getting any answers until after the feast, meaning that Y/N should expect a rant from her within the following days.

Meanwhile, Fred laughed loudly as Lee pointed out a failed attempt by a Ravenclaw boy to get Cho Chang's attention. Y/N looked on sympathetically.

"It must be exhausting," she mumbled, watching as Cho politely excused herself from the boy. Luckily, her friends were nearby and able to save her from anymore unwanted attention.

"What is?" George asked, turning his head to follow her gaze.

"Being that pretty," she answered, looking back at him. "Cho's been getting unwanted attention for years. I can't imagine it's very fun, especially when she's just trying to catch up with her friends."

He hummed as Angelina sent Y/N a smirk. "You better get used to it, girl."

"What? Why?" Y/N asked, frowning at her friend.

"Didn't you notice?" she asked, causing Alicia to laugh from beside her.

"Notice what?"

"Y/N, I can count at least 6 different guys who did a double take when we walked in here," Alicia said, causing Y/N's brows to furrow in confusion.

George, not very inconspicuously, began to glance around the hall. Lo and behold, the girls were right - he could see a couple of guys looking her way. A strange feeling bubbled in his chest, one that he wished would go away.

"Yeah and they're all ghastly looking blokes," George muttered, causing Angelina and Alicia to share an amused look.

"Don't say that," Y/N groaned. "Don't tell me that only ugly people find me attractive."

He grinned, somewhat relieved to hear that she was dreading the idea of male attention. "Sorry, but it's true."

"So, basically, I'm ugly," she huffed, crossing her arms in mild annoyance.
