George was quick to fulfill his promise.
His excitement pushed him to start trying to plan his first date with Y/N the very next day — he would have started that night, but he had been a bit distracted. He spent the following week having hushed conversations with Angelina, Alicia, Hermione, and even Ginny about what he should do.
The girls found his eagerness endearing, though Ginny didn't shy away from teasing him about his infatuation with Y/N, and were more than willing to listen to his many ideas of what to do.
"You're going to take her to Madam Puddifoot's?" Angelina asked in disbelief. Both her and Alicia exchanged surprised looks. "You, George Weasley, are going to sit in Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop?"
"Is that not a good idea?" he asked nervously.
"No, she has mentioned wanting to visit it," Alicia replied, tone laced with perplexity. "We're just surprised that- George, do you know what Madam Puddifoot's is?"
"Isn't it just a tea shop?" he asked, growing wary at their looks. "What's wrong with it?"
"Nothing's wrong with it," Angelina said, stifling a laugh. "It's just...not your scene."
"So, should we go elsewhere?" he asked slowly.
The girls shared a look and nodded.
"Maybe save Puddifoot's for a different day," Alicia suggested.
"Yeah, preferably when she's already your girlfriend," Angelina added.
"Don't worry, though," Alicia assured him. "You will be visiting that tea shop at some point. You were right: she does want to go. We just think that you should go somewhere you'll both be comfortable, at least for the first date."
After that conversation, George figured he should start from the beginning, though there was now a newfound curiosity within him regarding Madam Puddifoot. He tried to ask Fred about it, but his brother was just as clueless as him.
Despite his attempts, George felt that none of his ideas were worthwhile. Although they weren't terrible, there was always something slightly off about them.
"The Three Broomsticks will be really crowded this time of year," Ginny pointed out. She had found George sitting in the common room one afternoon and peered over his shoulder to see him scratching out several words on a spare piece of parchment. "There's also the tavern down the street, but I've heard it's got strange company."
That same day, Hermione found him in the library flipping through relationship magazines and old news clippings of Hogsmeade.
"I'm not sure you'll find what you're looking for in those," she said, doing her best to speak gently to the visibly frazzled boy.
"Yeah, I've gathered that," he replied.
After another failed night of planning, George sighed and dropped into bed. He covered his face with his hands, willing the frustration away.
Fred and Lee, who had followed him into their dormitory, exchanged a glance before moving towards their beds. They both took a seat at the edge of their mattresses and waited for George to speak.
"I can't think of anything," he said defeatedly. "There's so much to do in Hogsmeade, but we've done all the interesting bits of it already."
"Why Hogsmeade?" Lee asked. "The next trip isn't until February. Can you even wait that long?"
"No," Fred answered for him.
"It needs to be memorable," George said. "But there's nothing to do here."
