Y/N had never been one to have a particularly difficult time getting up in the mornings. She wasn't an early bird by any means, but she had never been physically dragged out of bed.
"What happened last night?" Alicia asked once she and Angelina had managed to get her down to the Great Hall for breakfast. Y/n was facedown on the wooden table, aching from last night's excursion.
It had been 3am when a pair of redhead twins had somehow managed to outsmart the magic staircase up to the girls' rooms and dragged her outside. She was barely conscious enough to listen to their plan to lay out a series of miniature explosions outside of Filch's office - they weren't real explosions, just spells that, once triggered by a change of weight in the ground, would unleash a series of horrid odors, along with different colored gas to go along with the smells.
"Morning," Fred's voice sounded from above her. The bench creaked slightly as he and George sat on either side of her. Angelina and Alicia sent the boys curious looks from across the table as Lee also made his way into the hall.
"You're going to leave a mark," George laughed. He lifted Y/N/s head and moved it so that she was leaning on his arm instead - she wasn't quite tall enough to reach his shoulder.
"What did you two do?" Angelina asked, eyeing the mischievous grins on Fred and George's faces. "And why is she like that?"
"Stink bombs," Fred answered simply, reaching over the table to grab a few pancakes.
"We planted stink bombs in the hall in front of Filch's office at 3am," George explained, earning an annoyed groan from Y/N. "She helped."
"And how did you get into our dorm?" Alicia asked skeptically. "We all know that Y/N wouldn't have willingly woken up at 3am."
Fred and George exchanged a look before shrugging. "Guess you'll never know."
Professor Mcgonagall began handing out schedules 5 minutes into breakfast. Y/N had yet to gain full consciousness, so Mcgonagall just handed the schedule to George, sent the twins a reprimanding and tired look, and made her way down the rest of the table.
"Charms with Slytherin," Angelina announced. The group would all be taking the same classes this year, so they all had the same schedule. "Divination with Hufflepuff is right after."
"You mean to tell me that we have to start off our school year with Slytherin?" Lee groaned, frustratedly taking a bite of his bacon.
As soon as the group had finished their breakfast - Alicia had coaxed a slice of jam and bread into Y/N - they made their way up to Flitwick's classroom. Fred and George told Lee about how last night's prank went and the three of them agreed to check on the hall later that evening.
The day's lessons came and went, and dinner mainly consisted of the girls talking about the various people in their classes. They commented on how much their peers had changed, along with any rumors they had heard while going from class to class. While they were doing that, the boys were wandering the castle halls, looking for future prank opportunities and checking on Filch's progress in cleaning the mess made by their most recent prank.
"I think I'm gonna head to the library," Y/N announced, slowly beginning to rise from her seat. "I want to get started on our Charms and Divination essays because I know Snape is going to assign us something horrid tomorrow."
Angelina and Alicia nodded. The three promised to regroup later in the common room and then Y/N headed off. The walk to the library didn't take very long, especially since most of the students were eating dinner.
After a few minutes, she was met with the familiar smell of old parchment and lingering dust, a smell that may sound odd but was comforting for her. She had barely made it past the first three rows of shelved when she heard quiet sniffles. A frown settled on her face as she followed the noise to the back of one of the rows filled with books on introductory spells, where she found the same curly-haired girl she had seen during last night's sorting.
