Soft humming filled the air as Y/N rearranged the flowers she had brought for Harry. Although he wasn't in any immediate pain, Madame Pomfrey had informed them that he'd have to regrow his bones, which was a long, tedious, and uncomfortable process. So, to make the atmosphere more bearable, Y/N brought flowers, snacks, and anything else he might need.
The two didn't have a very close relationship, but their fondness of the Weasleys and Hermione seemed to bring them together. That, and their shared dislike for Lockhart, who they cursed on a regular basis.
Of course, the Weasleys and Hermione also visited him often - any time they weren't in class, they were in the hospital wing. Hermione had even begun to study in the wing to keep Harry company; it was also convenient that Y/N frequented the place as well, meaning that they didn't have to stop their usual sessions.
Y/N was in the midst of an essay when a bang sounded from outside the hospital wing doors. She let out a deep sigh, sensing that the twins were to blame.
"Fred!"
"George!"
The doors were pushed open and the two gingers came stumbling in, each one covered in soot and holding a blackened cylinder. They flashed Y/N and Harry goofy grins.
"What did you do?" Y/N asked slowly.
"It wasn't on purpose," George said, causing her brows to raise. "It was an accident."
"Yeah, it was supposed to set off when Ron got here," Fred added. Y/N and Harry peered at each other from their periphery, both of them curious but still undecided about whether it was worth knowing. "It was harmless."
"I can see that," Y/N deadpanned.
"We tried a thing," George said.
"A thing," she repeated.
"Yes, a thing," Fred nodded eagerly.
"Which is?" she questioned.
"Well, it was supposed to blow up and create a swamp," George started.
"But it just blew up," Fred finished. "No swamp."
"Unfortunately," George added.
"We'll workshop it," Fred shrugged.
The week of Harry's recovery was filled with similar events, but sometimes, Lee would be the one to cause chaos. He had always been similar to Fred and George, though a bit tamer, so it didn't surprise anyone when he showed up one day with a frog.
"George, remember when you let that squirrel loose in here?" he laughed, while holding up the frog. "Do you want to release a frog?"
Madame Pomfrey, who still vividly remembered spending her afternoon chasing a rogue squirrel around, instantly snatched the frog from Lee. She scolded the 4th year boys for even considering releasing another animal in the hospital wing, especially when their friend was in recovery. She then threatened to ban the boys from the wing, uncaring if they injured themselves.
It was thanks to the 4th years and his two best friends that Harry survived the boredom of bed rest. There was actually a small part of him that was disappointed when Madame Pomfrey gave him the all clear, since it would mean that he'd be seeing less of everyone.
His worries, however, were for naught. Y/N made sure to see Harry at least once a day after her usual study sessions with Hermione, who was more than happy to share her with him. Although their conversations didn't last very long, she offered him a kind of comfort that he hadn't experience with anyone else.
"Make sure not to skip meals," she scolded, reminding him of what he imagined having an older sister would be like. "Not only are you the Boy Who Lived, but you're an athlete and a twelve year old boy. If you don't eat properly now, you won't grow and Ron will tower over you in no time."
