As spring crept upon them, exam season begun to loom over their heads. For the sixth years, this was also accompanied by discussions regarding their future careers.

Y/N bid McGonagall goodbye as she exited her initial consultation. The meeting had consisted of a review of her O.W.L.S, grades, and a general ranking of her magic-related skills. McGonagall, who had expressed her opinion that Y/N would do well as an auror in the past, proceeded the meeting with information on what she would need to accomplish within the next year and the training required to become one. All in all, it seemed that Y/N's future was set, not that she minded all that much.

She carefully balanced the books and pamphlets the professor had offered her in her arms and turned down the hall to head outside. The weather was starting to warm and her friends had expressed a desire to sit by the courtyard during lunch, promising to bring her food out.

She hummed quietly to herself as she stepped outside of the castle walls and followed the weaving path down to the courtyard. Her eyes roamed the space and she took in the gathered groups of students, all of whom were enjoying the sun as well.

"Y/N," Alicia called out, waving her over.

George looked up with a grin and stood to meet her halfway. He took the books from her and pressed a kiss to her forehead, mumbling, "Missed you, love."

"It's been an hour," she laughed.

He hummed and glanced down at her lips. "I've missed you in general."

Admittedly, the two hadn't had a real moment alone since their late night escapade the night George asked her to be his girlfriend. Although George was doing his best to find time with her, it was difficult to work around the seemingly endless number of people that always had an excuse as to why they needed his girlfriend at any given time.

Specifically, the now unavoidable fact that the fourth year trio had come to rely on Y/N for stability, even in moments where she was not fully included. On a normal day, it was just a series of questions that they'd ask her regarding enchantments, spells, potions, or even magical creatures. That, however, especially with the tournament, had transformed into them asking Y/N to directly help them with their issues.

At first, it was mediating the tension between Hermione and Ron after the ball. It didn't take much effort on her part since the two were already silently mending it, but she was included nonetheless. Now, the trio had developed a habit of just sitting near her in the common room, leaving little time and space for George and Y/N to be alone.

Hermione had attempted to give the two alone time, but she usually wasn't able to get Ron and Harry to take the hint — Harry was just generally unaware and Ron followed Harry.

"Yeah, we haven't been very...couple-like, have we?" she asked with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry."

He shook his head and balanced her books in one arm, freeing his other arm and allowing him to pull her close. "I'll forgive you."

"Thanks-"

"Under one condition," he cut her off, smirking.

"Which is?" she asked, dragging the words out in hesitation.

"A kiss," he replied. The two had nearly reached their friends at this point with only a few steps separating them. "A real one."

Had they been inside or alone, Y/N would have given in quickly, but the sight of so many people around them gave her pause. She mentally weighed her options, trying to decide if she cared about people possibly looking their way.

"You don't have to," he said softly after noticing her hesitation — he meant it. The comment was mostly to tease the poor girl, though he wouldn't mind a kiss. She frowned and concern began to build inside him. "Really, love. I was only teasing."
