A quiet hum filled the morning as the L/N residence stirred awake. F/N and M/N had received a letter from the Weasleys about a month ago extending an invitation to their daughter to attend the Quidditch World Cup with them. F/N had been aware of the event for some time now, having had to stay at the Ministry for longer periods of time as more and more Ministry workers were tasked with ensuring that the quadrennial event would be secure.

Ever since hearing the news, Y/N had excitedly been exchanging letters with her friends. Tickets for the World Cup were nearly impossible to get, so it was a miracle that the Ministry was willing to give Arthur Weasley so many.

"Y/N, we promised Molly we'd be at the Burrow in five minutes!" M/N called up the stairs, resulting in a thud sounding from the floor above. The older woman shook her head in mild exasperation as she waited for her daughter to come tumbling down the steps. "Excited?"

"Definitely," Y/N responded with a beam. "I'm sad you won't be coming though."

Her mom waved it off. "Your father and I went when we were younger. It was fun, but I'm not sure I want to go back at my age."

"Mom, you're not that old," Y/N pointed out, voice tinged with amusement.

"Old enough," her mom replied. "Now, your father is waiting outside. You'll be apparating with him, so he can speak with Arthur. I've already sent your trunk. Do you have your bag?"

Y/N nodded and held up her purse, which she had recently added an undetectable extension charm to. Her parents were aware, though they warned her to not get caught since the spell was technically illegal.

"Alright," her mom nodded, pulling her into a hug and pressing a kiss to her head. "Now, stay safe, have fun, and don't get into trouble."

"I haven't gotten in trouble in years," she complained.

"Okay, then keep your friends out of trouble," her mom amended.

"I'd have better luck raising the dead," Y/N grumbled.

Apparition, though a common method of travel for members of the wizarding world, was not something Y/N was used to. She preferred traveling by floo powder, but, considering that she would be allowed to start apparition lessons soon, her parents thought it best to get her more accustomed to it.

She gripped her dad's elbow as a tug pulled them through the air. The trip only lasted a split second, but she still experienced a spell of nausea and landed with a slight stumble in front of the Burrow. Her dad chuckled at her reaction and held her up, waiting for her to gather her composure before leading them inside, where Molly and Arthur were waiting.

"Oh, it's good to see you, dear," Molly cooed, immediately pulling Y/N into a warm embrace. "You've gotten taller!"

"It's nice to see you too, Molly," Y/N returned the warm smile. She angled her body slightly to address both Weasley parents, "Thank you so much for the invitation."

"Of course, it's not a problem," Arthur replied. "You're practically family at this point."

She beamed at that, causing her dad to look on fondly. He pulled Y/N into a hug before nodding towards the living room, "I'm sure your friends are waiting."

"Yes, you'll be staying in Ginny's room as usual," Molly informed. "Everyone should be out back, and as always, let me know if you want anything to eat."

"I will. Thank you," Y/N said before waving and eagerly ducking out of the kitchen. She figured her dad would be going over the itinerary and security with Arthur. She had received her own safety lecture earlier that week and would much rather avoid hearing it again.
