Rami sat cross-legged on the wooden floor of the practice room, her acoustic guitar resting comfortably in her lap. The soft, golden light of late afternoon spilled through the windows, casting a warm glow over the space. Asa sat nearby, her back against the wall, a notebook brimming with scribbled lyrics, sketches, and fleeting ideas spread out before her.
“How about this?” Rami asked, her voice low, as she gently plucked a few strings, the beginning of a melody filling the quiet room. Her fingers moved with ease, as though the guitar had always been a part of her, her focus solely on the music.
Asa tilted her head, listening intently. “That’s really good. But…” she paused, tapping her pen against her notebook, “maybe we can pick up the tempo a bit?”
Rami smirked, her eyes glinting with a playful challenge. “Like this?” Her fingers danced across the strings again, quickening the rhythm into something more vibrant, almost teasing.
“Exactly!” Asa’s face lit up, her excitement palpable. She had always admired Rami’s effortless way with music — how she could take an idea, an emotion, and breathe life into it through melody. It was one of the reasons they worked so well together; Rami’s musical instincts perfectly complemented Asa’s gift for words and melody.
For weeks now, they had been writing songs together, ever since rumors of potential subunits had started swirling around during practice. But instead of waiting for their company to decide, they had taken the initiative, using their spare moments to create something uniquely theirs.
“You think fans will ever guess we’re working on this?” Asa asked, leaning over to get a glimpse of the chords Rami was playing.
Rami shrugged, a grin tugging at the corner of her lips. “Doubt it. But when we finally debut as a subunit, we’ll be miles ahead.”
Asa chuckled, leaning back with satisfaction. “True. Imagine dropping a surprise track out of nowhere.”
“And blowing their minds,” Rami added, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
They both laughed, imagining the look on their fans' faces when the time came. It was a dream they were quietly building towards, but for now, it was just the two of them, working in secret, shaping the future on their own terms.
“Let’s record a demo,” Asa suggested, pulling out her phone and opening a recording app, ready to capture the magic they were creating.
Rami nodded, adjusting her guitar. “Alright. Let’s go with the one we’ve been working on this week.”
Asa quickly scanned the lyrics she had jotted down earlier, her thoughts already aligning with the music Rami was playing. The song had evolved over the past few days — upbeat but grounded, full of emotion, yet with an undeniable energy. Asa had written the lyrics to reflect the thrill of chasing dreams, while Rami had crafted a melody that was both infectious and moving.
Rami’s fingers began to glide over the strings, creating a rhythmic pulse that filled the room with life. Asa felt the beat in her chest, tapping her foot to the rhythm, preparing herself for the verse. And when her voice finally broke through the music, it was steady and confident, a perfect match for the vibrant chords beneath it.
They fell into their usual rhythm, their voices intertwining effortlessly. Rami’s soft harmonies drifted beneath Asa’s lead, adding depth and texture to the song. The lyrics told a story — their story — of ambition, uncertainty, and the unbreakable bond they’d formed. It was a testament to where they were now, but also a promise of what was yet to come.
As the final chord faded, Asa let out a contented sigh. “That felt really good.”
Rami set her guitar down carefully, a satisfied smile spreading across her face. “Yeah, I think we’ve got something special here.”
Asa stretched, arms reaching above her head as she shook off the last remnants of focus. “We should keep building on this. Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll actually release it.”
Rami leaned back against the wall, a lazy grin on her face. “And when we do, we’ll be ready.”
They both knew that subunits were inevitable. The company might not have made any official decisions yet, but they weren’t waiting around for permission. They were carving their own path, letting the music guide them. It wasn’t about the spotlight or the fame — not yet, at least. For now, it was just about the process, the excitement of creating something together, and the unspoken understanding that they were in this for the long haul.
Rami picked up her guitar again, strumming aimlessly, her thoughts clearly drifting. “Wanna run through another one?”
Asa flipped through her notebook, glancing at the many unfinished ideas. She grinned, catching Rami’s gaze. “Of course. We’ve got to stay ahead if we’re going to take over the world someday.”
Rami laughed, her fingers already working across the strings, a new melody blooming in the room. “One song at a time, Asa-unnie. One song at a time.”
And as the first notes of their next track filled the practice room, they knew they were on the right path — writing their future, one harmony at a time.

A/N:
I just remembered Asa and Rami talking about making songs together for fun, so I created something based on that.
