Ahyeon and Asa had never been friends. Their rivalry, born from competitive spirits and old grievances, had led to countless arguments. When their mutual friend Rita needed help with her three-year-old daughter, Ruru, neither was thrilled. Rita had accidentally contacted both of them, not realizing the mix-up.
When Ahyeon arrived at Rita's apartment, she was surprised to find Asa standing there.
"What are you doing here?" Ahyeon asked, her eyes narrowing.
Asa's eyes widened in disbelief. "I could ask you the same thing. I thought I was the only one Rita asked for!"
Before they could escalate their argument, Ruru came toddling over with a cheerful smile, breaking the tension with her innocent curiosity. Ahyeon and Asa exchanged annoyed glances but sighed, accepting their unexpected babysitting challenge.
Their first task was to prepare breakfast for Ruru. Ahyeon took charge of pouring cereal, but she was uncoordinated, causing milk to spill everywhere. "Why don't you try doing it yourself, then?" Asa snapped, her patience wearing thin.
"Oh, right, because everything has to be done your way. Maybe if you weren't so obsessed with perfection, we'd get this done faster!" Ahyeon shot back, her frustration evident.
Asa rolled her eyes. "Well, if you knew how to handle things properly, we wouldn't have this mess."
Their argument continued as they tried to make Ruru's breakfast. Asa attempted to cut fruit into bite-sized pieces, but her knife skills were lackluster. "This is not how you cut fruit. It needs to be smaller," Ahyeon criticized.
"Maybe if you weren't so quick to judge, you'd realize that everyone has their own way of doing things," Asa retorted.
The tension only grew when Ruru, sitting in her high chair, began to fuss. Ahyeon suggested soothing her with a song, but Asa protested. "Your singing is terrible. Let me handle this."
"I'm trying my best," Ahyeon said, clearly irritated. "Maybe if you weren't so critical all the time, you'd notice I'm doing my best."
Their argument reached its peak when they had to change Ruru's diaper. Ahyeon, struggling with the diaper cream, accidentally squeezed too much out, making a mess. Asa, trying to assist, fumbled with the diaper's snaps, causing Ruru to start crying.
"You're making it worse!" Asa exclaimed.
"Me? You're the one who can't even manage a simple diaper change!" Ahyeon fired back.
In the midst of their heated argument, Ruru, sensing the tension, decided to take matters into her own hands. With a mischievous glint in her eye, she grabbed a toy snake and placed it next to Ahyeon's foot. As Ahyeon let out a shriek, Asa laughed uncontrollably, momentarily distracted from their fight.
As Ahyeon recovered, Ruru picked up a toy drum and started banging it loudly behind Asa. Asa jumped, startled, while Ruru's laughter filled the room.
"Oh great, now we're being pranked by a three-year-old," Ahyeon said, trying to regain her composure.
"Seems like she's on my side," Asa said with a chuckle, clearly amused.
Ruru continued her playful pranks, scattering toy blocks across the floor, turning the living room into a chaotic playground. As Ahyeon and Asa tried to navigate through the mess, they stumbled over the blocks, their arguments momentarily forgotten as they focused on cleaning up and keeping Ruru entertained.
By the time Rita returned, the apartment was in disarray, but Ahyeon and Asa were laughing and working together, clearly having bonded over their shared experience. Ruru, seeing her mom, rushed toward her with a joyful squeal.
Rita scooped Ruru up into her arms, showering her with kisses. "Oh, my sweet girl! I missed you so much!" Rita exclaimed, her face beaming with love.
Ruru giggled and wrapped her tiny arms around her mom. "Mommy!" she squealed, clearly thrilled to be reunited.
As Ahyeon and Asa watched the heartwarming scene, they exchanged a smile of mutual understanding. Their rivalry had softened through the day's chaos, and they both felt a new sense of respect for each other.
Rita turned to them, still holding Ruru. "Thank you both for taking care of Ruru. I know it wasn't easy, but you both did a great job."
Ahyeon and Asa nodded, feeling accomplished. "It was quite a day," Ahyeon said with a chuckle. "But we managed."
As they left Rita's apartment, Ahyeon and Asa shared a friendly wave, having turned a challenging day into a memorable and enjoyable experience. The sight of Rita and Ruru's joyful reunion had made the day truly worthwhile.
