Ruka stretched her arms above her head, the bright morning sun filtering through the blinds as she lazily scrolled through her phone. Minji had dragged her out again yesterday, convincing her to attend another art class-thankfully one without live models this time. But despite the lack of distraction, Ruka still couldn't stop her mind from wandering back to the previous session. More specifically, it wandered back to Ahyeon.
Ruka groaned, rubbing her face in frustration. She had hoped that once the class was over, she could forget all about the awkwardness and the teasing smiles. But instead, Ahyeon seemed to have taken up residence in her thoughts. The way she moved, her quiet confidence-it was like she had left an impression that Ruka couldn't shake.
Her phone buzzed suddenly, snapping her out of her thoughts. It was Minji, of course.
Minji: "Hey, you free today? There's this cool coffee shop I wanna try out. Let's meet there at 2!"
Ruka sighed. Knowing Minji, "cool" meant somewhere trendy and packed with people, but it wasn't like she had anything better to do.
Ruka: "Sure, why not?"
She tossed her phone aside and got ready for the day, throwing on something casual and comfortable. As she headed out, she couldn't help but wonder if Minji had another hidden agenda. After all, the last time they had met up, Ruka had been unknowingly dragged into that art class with Ahyeon.
By the time Ruka arrived at the café, she spotted Minji almost immediately, already sitting at a corner table with her usual iced coffee in hand. Ruka slid into the seat across from her, raising an eyebrow as she took in her friend's suspiciously wide grin.
"What's with that look?" Ruka asked, eyeing Minji warily.
Minji sipped her coffee innocently. "What look?"
"The look that says you're up to something."
Minji feigned offense, placing a hand on her chest. "Me? Up to something? Ruka, I'm hurt."
Ruka rolled her eyes. "Sure. So, what's the real reason you dragged me here?"
Minji giggled and was about to answer when the door to the café opened, and Ruka froze, her breath catching in her throat.
Ahyeon walked in, dressed casually in an oversized sweatshirt and jeans, her hair pulled into a messy bun. She looked different from the poised, confident model Ruka had seen at the art class. But there was no mistaking that face-and those eyes. Ahyeon's gaze scanned the room before landing squarely on Ruka, and her lips curled into a knowing smile.
"Oh, no way," Ruka muttered under her breath, her heart pounding in her chest.
Minji was practically beaming now, clearly thrilled by the unexpected encounter. "What a coincidence, huh?" she whispered, leaning closer to Ruka. "Guess who just walked in?"
Ruka shot her a glare. "You knew she'd be here, didn't you?"
Minji winked. "Maybe."
Before Ruka could protest further, Ahyeon made her way over to their table, her expression as unreadable as ever. "Well, fancy seeing you here," she said, her tone light and teasing. "Mind if I join you two?"
Minji immediately scooted over to make space, gesturing for Ahyeon to sit down. "Of course! Have a seat."
Ruka, on the other hand, could barely find her voice. Her brain was screaming at her to stay calm, but her body had other ideas. Her heart raced, and she could feel a slight flush creeping up her neck.
"Ruka, right?" Ahyeon asked, her eyes glinting with amusement as she took the seat beside her. "You seemed a little... distracted during the last class."
