[12. Food Festival]

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Heeeyyy!!"

"What, Mei?"

"Do you guys want to go to a food festival nearby?! I have three vouchers!"

That was Mei's joyful shriek - a shriek that could be heard from the edge of the universe, despite the fact that you, MK, and her were in the same room.

For hours, the three of you had been sitting in your apartment room doing nothing.

You'd already tried gaming, 'truth or dare', and even raiding a store to make today exciting, but nothing seemed to pique your interest until Mei discovered three vouchers unexpectedly.

When Mei was screaming at the top of her lungs, MK doing pretty much nothing (he was about to fall asleep as he leaned on your shoulder) while you read a book. It was your 4th book today, by the way. The time it took to finish each book can vary; it can be as short as a blink of an eye or as lengthy as standing in line for a ride at an amusement park on a long vacation. Fortunately, the book you were currently reading was the first one.

Mei's enthusiastic suggestion made you immediately close your book, mark your page, and look up to find her with a big smile on her face, holding out three vouchers.

"Oooo! That sounds fun. Why didn't you tell us earlier you had these?" You looked at the paper in her hand, then to her eyes, "Where's the food festival happening?"

The thought of a food festival was too enticing to pass up.

"It's just a short ride to the city center." Mei smirked and gestured out the window, where the night sky was already festooned with vibrant lights from the festival, "We can try lots of dishes and snacks there."

The way Mei described it, you can already anticipate the delicious smells and flavors that await you at the festival. It's been a while since you got the chance to enjoy a variety of scrumptious foods.

With a beaming expression of excitement, MK quickly raised his head from your shoulder, "Ohohoho!! Count me in. Where did you even get these vouchers, Mei?"

Mei playfully shrugged, a pleased smile on her lips, "I found them in the pocket of my jacket. I honestly don't remember how they ended up there, but hey, free food!"

MK quietly took the three papers and read what was written on them before gasping, "Mei, these vouchers are worth a fortune!"

Curious, you leaned in as MK showed you the papers. Of course, as soon as you saw the incredible discounts, free samples, and other exclusive benefits listed on the vouchers, your eyes grew wider.

"Holy crap." You murmured before swiftly grinning like a child, "What are we waiting for, guys?? Let's goooo!"

Without any further hesitation, you and your friends rapidly get ready to go. With your phones, wallets, and jackets at the ready, you were all ready to take on the festival and make the most of this unexpected opportunity.
