The classroom hummed with a lazy, post-PE lethargy. Students sprawled in their seats, either engaged in quiet conversations or simply scrolling through their phones, taking full advantage of the unexpected free time. The room was filled with the low hum of voices, the occasional burst of laughter, and the sound of chairs being lazily adjusted. The absence of a teacher had turned this period into an unofficial break, and no one seemed in a rush to disrupt the peace.
Y/N, sitting beside Jungkook by the window, absently doodled on the edge of her notebook. The crisp breeze from the slightly open window brushed against her face, but it did little to revive her post-exercise exhaustion.
Jungkook, still catching his breath, grumbled between bites of his cookies. "I hope the next teacher doesn't show up " He mumbled through a mouthful, offering her a cookie. "I need this to be a free period."
Y/N sighed, leaning her head back against the windowpane. "Same. PE drained me. I hate running laps—I'd rather just sleep through the next class."
Their conversation blended into the background noise of the classroom, everyone seemingly in their own little world. The atmosphere was laid-back, almost sleepy, until suddenly, the classroom door flew open with a loud creak.
A boy from their class, panting heavily and looking like he'd sprinted down the entire hallway, stumbled inside. His face was flushed, his breath ragged as he clutched the door frame for support.
"Guys, we're doomed!" he gasped, his voice urgent and shaking, causing the room to fall eerily silent in an instant.
Y/N straightened, and Jungkook, cookie still in hand, raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"
The boy barely caught his breath before blurting out, "Taehyung-sir is coming—with our test papers!"
Instantly, the carefree mood in the room evaporated.
A chorus of gasps and groans filled the air as the students realized what this meant. Conversations were cut short, and the previously relaxed atmosphere turned tense.
"No way," someone muttered from the back of the room, their voice full of dread.
"You're kidding, right?" another student asked, eyes wide in disbelief.
But the boy shook his head, his expression grim. "I saw him coming this way, and—" he hesitated before adding, "he's carrying a stick."
This sentence made the whole room buzz with rising panic. Desks creaked as students shifted uncomfortably, trying to recall how well—or poorly—they had performed on the test. Y/N's heart dropped as she exchanged a worried look with Jungkook. Her thoughts raced back to the test. She had struggled with a few questions, and now her stomach churned at the thought of what her score might be.
"Why now?" Y/N whispered under her breath, her fingers gripping her pen tightly. The day had been going so smoothly, and now this?
The boy who had delivered the news slid into his seat, his face still pale. "He's almost here. Brace yourselves."
And then, the dreaded sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway—calm, deliberate, and terrifyingly close.
The classroom door swung open again, and in walked Taehyung, carrying a stack of test papers in one hand and, sure enough, a stick in the other. His face remained expressionless as he strode to the front of the class, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife. Every pair of eyes followed him, nerves tightening as he placed the test papers and the stick on the table.
"Good morning, class," Taehyung began, his voice calm but firm. "Sorry to interrupt your free period, but I thought it would be best to go over your test results together. That way, you can see exactly where you went wrong."
