Y/N had been on her best behavior for weeks, making a concerted effort to stay out of trouble, especially when Taehyung was around. However, today proved to be a lapse in judgment. Despite multiple warnings from Mr. Lee during his lecture, Y/N and Jungkook couldn't resist chatting quietly, resulting in both of them landing in detention after school.
Mr. Lee escorted them sternly down the corridor towards the detention room, his scolding still echoing in their ears. Y/N exchanged a nervous glance with Jungkook, both silently wishing they were anywhere but here. But fate had a different plan. Just as they arrived at the detention room, Mr. Lee's phone rang urgently. With a sigh, he turned to them and said, "I have to leave for a bit. You two will continue your detention with Taehyung."
The mere mention of Taehyung's name sent a shiver down Y/N's spine. She and Jungkook exchanged worried looks before reluctantly following Mr. Lee towards Taehyung's office, the hallway now feeling oppressively quiet. Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that this detention was about to be more daunting than they had anticipated.
Mr. Lee knocked on Taehyung's office door, receiving an immediate "come in" from within. Taehyung, engrossed in his laptop, glanced up as Mr. Lee entered. They exchanged greetings-a nod from Taehyung and a weary smile from Mr. Lee, whose demeanor hinted at an impending burden.
"Mr. Kim," Mr. Lee began, his voice carrying the weight of his dilemma, "I need your help. could you please look after Jungkook and Y/N? They got detention from me for disturbing class. I've got some urgent work,"
Taehyung's nod was solemn, his eyes briefly flickering over to where Jungkook and Y/N stood, attempting to shrink into the shadows cast by Mr. Lee's presence. His disappointment was palpable, a silent reproach that needed no words.
"I'll take care of it, Mr. Lee. Don't worry," Taehyung assured, his voice steady but edged with a hint of sternness. His gaze lingered on the two students behind Mr. Lee, their apprehension evident as they awaited their fate under Taehyung's watchful eye.
As Mr. Lee turned to leave, he added wearily, "Give them a piece of your mind, Mr. Kim. They've been testing my patience lately."
Mr. Lee closed the door behind him, the click resonating through the now tense atmosphere of Taehyung's office.
Taehyung leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table, his expression unreadable as he scrutinized Jungkook and Y/N with a mix of disappointment and weariness. The silence in the room was thick, broken only by the nervous rustling of Y/N's skirt fabric as she fidgeted under his gaze.
"What should I do with both of you, hmm?" Taehyung's voice held a hint of frustration, the weight of previous infractions evident in his tone. He studied their downcast faces, waiting for an explanation.
"Whenever something goes wrong, it seems you two are always involved," Taehyung continued, his voice tinged with fatigue. "I'm really tired of this behavior." He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. "Why were you disturbing the class?"
Jungkook and Y/N exchanged nervous glances, their heads bowed in shame. Taehyung's patience was clearly wearing thin. He raised his voice slightly, demanding their attention. "I am asking you something. Look up and answer me."
Y/N hesitated, her voice barely audible as she looked up just enough to meet Taehyung's disapproving gaze. "We were just talking quietly, sir. It wasn't that loud," she mumbled, her voice trailing off as Taehyung's expression hardened.
"Quietly? In a lecture?" Taehyung's frustration was palpable, his voice rising in intensity. "Are you stupid? You, come here first, you brat," he commanded, pushing his chair back and standing up, his eyes locked onto Y/N.
