Gradora the Sage had written about what he called the "New-Aged Race" in his book, "The History".
According to his words, Gradora explained that the line between old-aged and new-aged races was drawn by those races' placements whether they came before or after the "Great Whale Fall" - dragons were one of those new-aged races.
Lizardmen were the descendants of dragons and humans. They, as well, were included in these so-called new-aged races.
Because they had the dragons' blood running in their veins. They were a proud race, but sometimes it turned into pride.
That pride would continue to lead them down a path of overconfidence.
The number of the orcs that marched into the Great Jura Forest was large to the point of uncountable. That grim reality suggested that maybe, just maybe, the legendary unique monster had been leading the army this whole time.
The lizardmen's tribe leader had sent his son to rally as many ally as possible. It was an act to survive, not spread their influence. Though the leader wasn't sure if Gabiru understood the intensity of the situation or not.
"I want to talk with the tribe leader. Who is the leader here?" the trespasser casually walked into the throne room. Behind him were the guards tied up in Sticky-Steel Thread.
"Invader!" the guard beside the throne shouted, "Eh?" But before he could grab his spear, his hands were already tied by the same silk used on the previous guards.
"I am not here for conflict. I want to talk."
"I am the tribe chief of the lizardmen, and you are?"
"My name is Souei. Just a humble messenger of my lord."
"Messenger?"
"Correct," He nodded, "Rimuru-sama wants to use this place, your territory, as a battlefield. Other than that, he wants to be your ally."
Souei perfectly captured Rimuru's intention within his words - at the same time, the chief was deep in his thoughts.
Uniting against the orcs was understandable, but wasn't it too soon to consider a long-term allyship? They didn't even know about each other's nature yet.
"I've never heard of that Rimuru person before. Let me guess. They're scared of the orcs and run to us for help. They should have just come here and beg," a guard said.
That was their prideful nature taking control. Even though they had seen what Souei was capable of. They couldn't help themselves, they felt the need to speak their minds.
Souei's temperance was far higher than Benimaru and Shion, but a direct insult aiming at his Lord was too far from forgivable.
"Shut up," the chief shouted. Souei's aura which started to leak out and fill the room was a signal telling the leader that some forbidden button was pushed.
"But chief! Ah!" As soon as that guard moved. His throat was slit by something that was almost invisible to the naked eyes. It was only a shallow slice for now, but if he kept moving, it would get deeper as well.
That was Souei's Sticky-Steel Thread. He placed it around the throats of everyone. If he pressed down the string near him, he could behead every lizardman here.
"Wait! Please spare my subordinates! I apologize for their behavior. Can you forgive them?" the chief launched up from his throne, now bowing at Souei.
Souei loosened his strings. "Insulting the man who gave me this name again will not be tolerated like this time. Rimuru-sama doesn't want your force. He only seeks to be an ally to reduce the number of potential enemies, that's all."
