A small part of Cassie began to dread going to a school dance.
Which was weird, she felt like she was betraying her younger self because fourteen year old Cassie was so eager to start high school — she strived for what she wanted, head cheerleader, head of the dance committee and a few other clubs. Maybe that would give her a sense of belonging. Now she was burnt out, exhausted from balancing two very different lives and suddenly wishing graduation was days away instead of months.
Something always went wrong at any event in Mystic Falls, one night off from the drama was too much to ask. She wouldn't quit the clubs, Cassie loved it all too much even though Caroline would have no problem handling the cheerleading team alone. But the supernatural side of her life was more time consuming, as always.
Esther simply died according to Rebekah. Cassie supposed that information was meant to put her mind at ease but she didn't believe it for a second, no way in Hell did the Original witch randomly drop dead. Klaus seemed to believe it though, and he was the most paranoid person ever so maybe Cassie needed to relax.
Decorating for the decade dance was not relaxing at all.
Clipboard in hand Cassie gaze narrowed as she observed the group of friends she roped into helping, making sure they wouldn't mess everything up before moving on. Even though the twenties theme had slowly begun to look awesome, Cassie resented it a little just because it wasn't her idea.
Caroline had a clipboard too, both taking their duties very seriously. "So, Alaric is trying to pull himself together, why is that a bad thing?"
Elena sighed, going through a box of decorations. "I just...I wish there was something I could do."
"There's nothing you can do." Cassie said blankly, she had been in the same place Elena was right now, desperate to help. There was nothing they could do, Alaric had to help himself. "He just has to take his herbs and everything will be okay."
The doppelgänger picked up a chandelier, "Where do you want me to hang this thing?" She asked the blondes.
Caroline scoffed, "You know what, if Rebekah wanted to hang this monstrosity she should have shown up to do it herself." She handed the chandelier to a student passing by. "Just no! Where is she anyway?" She asked, noticing the lack of the Original.
"She hasn't answered any of my — Jeremy!" Cassie cut herself off, distracted by the youngest Gilbert hanging decorations very badly. It's like he wanted the entire dance to look horrendous. "Don't you dare put that up there like that!"
