The entire campus fell into an eerie silence as Aanya’s apology echoed through the microphone. From my spot on the podium, I could see a sea of stunned faces—students exchanging bewildered glances, unsure if they had heard her correctly. My eyes found my friends, in the crowd, their expressions showing nothing but disbelief.
But it was Devyaan’s reaction that caught my attention; his eyes were wide with shock, his brows furrowed in confusion.
I couldn’t help but think back to the previous night Aanya had put me through. She had been the mastermind behind such a petty scheme, all because of her need to assert her dominance.
And while all of us, including Devyaan, knew she was behind the chaos, none of them expected her to come clean, let alone make a public apology.
Let me give you an idea of how all this happened:
Flashback
After meticulous planning with Naman and Abhilekh, I asked the help of a girl to deliver a message to Aanya, informing her that she was urgently summoned to the Environmental Science lab. Strangely, without a moment’s hesitation or inquiry about the caller's identity, she followed the girl’s directions and made her way toward the EVS department.
I subtly signaled to the boys, and they swiftly proceeded to disable the security cameras in the corridor leading to the lab, as well as the camera inside it.
As Aanya stepped into the lab, she called out, inquiring if anyone was present. I quietly slipped in behind her and swiftly secured the door. The moment she heard the click of the lock, she turned, and a fleeting shadow of fear crossed her features. Despite the palpable tension in the air, she mustered her courage, lifting her chin defiantly as she asked, ‘You? You were the one who called me here? Why?’
I smirked at her words and replied, "Why didn’t you care to check on my condition after the stunt you pulled yesterday? I thought it would be fitting for me to provide you with a firsthand view of the consequences."
Her jaw tightened as she gritted her teeth, retorting, "Listen, I’m not interested in your nonsense. Just step aside and let me go."
My smirk deepened as I took deliberate steps towards her, forcing her to retreat until she found herself cornered between me and the aquarium.
"What are you doing? Can’t you follow what I’m saying?" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with panic.
I leaned in closer, my gaze unwavering. "Were you able to follow my words yesterday?’ I shot back, subtly gesturing for her to look at the mirror behind her.”
As soon as she turned to see what was behind her, I seized the moment and plunged her face into the aquarium, which was empty of fish. A loud splash erupted, the sound echoing through the lab, but it was nothing compared to the chaos of last night at her farmhouse.
