It was a calm night, the stars twinkling against the dark sky. A small boy with beautiful doe eyes, Jeongguk, came rushing down the stairs, his feet light and his heart full. His mother, Jeon Nara, sat in the living room, her short hair framing her kind face, her own doe eyes mirroring his. As he threw himself into her legs, she laughed, her voice soft and full of warmth, while Jeongguk giggled, out of breath from running.

Behind him, his father, Jeon Jeonghan, pretended to chase after him. "Gguka, that's not fair, she's my wife!" he teased, chuckling, his smile wide.

Jeongguk hugged his mother tighter. "She's my mom!" he said, his voice full of innocence and joy.

Nara smiled and patted his head gently. "You can hug me too, Jeonghan. We're family, right, Gguk?" she said, her tone soft as a whisper, her heart melting at the sight of her son's bright eyes looking up at her.

"Of course," Jeongguk beamed, and Jeonghan joined the embrace, wrapping his arms around his wife and son, his heart full as they fit perfectly in his hold.

"I love you, Gguka," Nara said gently, her hand resting on her growing belly, six months along now.

"I love you too, mama," Jeongguk replied, laughing as his father lifted him up, holding them both close, a moment of perfect love.

"Enough, go to your room now," Nara said playfully, pushing them away. "Tomorrow is a big day, we're going on a picnic, remember?" Jeonghan said, he put down jeongguk and kissed Nara's head "drink your juice and come after us okay" Nara nodded smiling.

giving Jeongguk's hand a playful squeeze as they made their way upstairs.

Jeongguk held his father's hand tightly, swinging it back and forth, humming a little tune. His father looked down at him, his heart swelling with love.

"You're going to grow up to be a fine gentleman," Jeonghan said softly as they reached Jeongguk's room and he tucked his son into bed.

"How?" Jeongguk asked, his wide eyes curious and bright.

"You'll respect your omega, and every omega. You'll protect them and make sure they are safe, always. That's what makes you a good alpha," Jeonghan explained.

Jeongguk's face lit up. "Will my omega be as beautiful as mama?" he asked, blushing.

Jeonghan chuckled softly. "Yes, they'll be beautiful, and they'll love and take care of you, just like your mama does."

Jeongguk smiled, his thoughts drifting to the future, imagining the family he would one day have.

His father smiled too. "Tomorrow, I'll teach you how to shift into your wolf form," Jeonghan said, pride in his voice.

"Really?!" Jeongguk's excitement bubbled over, his eyes wide with wonder.

"Yes, but for now, you need to sleep. You'll need all your strength for tomorrow," Jeonghan said, pulling the duvet up around Jeongguk and patting his head.

"And we'll enroll you in school on Monday. You'll meet lots of new friends," his father added, watching as Jeongguk's eyes gleamed with joy.

"For real?" Jeongguk asked, his voice sleepy but thrilled.

"For real. Now sleep, my son," Jeonghan whispered, his voice soft as Jeongguk's eyes fluttered shut. He watched over him for a moment, before leaving the room.

Back in their bedroom, Nara was already lying down, a book in her hands, her face drawn with exhaustion. Being Luna of the pack, while carrying another child, had taken its toll on her.

Jeonghan slipped into bed beside her, his arms wrapping around her protectively, but something in his chest felt heavy, uneasy.

"Nara, I love you," he whispered against her hair, kissing her forehead as he breathed in her scent, trying to calm the restlessness inside.

Hours passed, and then the peace of the night was shattered by screams.

Jeonghan jolted awake, his eyes wide as he rushed to the window. His heart froze in his chest. Outside, the pack was on fire. Flames engulfed the buildings, and terrified screams filled the air. How could this be happening? Their pack was supposed to be the strongest.

"Nara!" Jeonghan turned, his voice sharp. "Take Jeongguk and get out of here!"

Nara was already on her feet, her heart pounding in terror. She ran to Jeongguk's room, finding him huddled on his bed, crying.

"It's okay, love, it's okay. We have to go," she whispered, trying to hold back her own tears as she scooped him into her arms and rushed back to their room. But Jeonghan was already gone.

Tears streamed down her face. She knew, deep down, that this was the end. No one would survive this.

"Come on, Jeongguk," she sobbed, pulling him along as they hurried downstairs. The house was burning around them, and the few remaining pack members were fighting for their lives, trying to protect what was left.

"Luna, go! Save yourself!" one of the guards shouted, just before a rogue wolf tore him down.

Nara held onto Jeongguk's hand tightly, running as fast as she could out of the burning house.

"Dada!" Jeongguk cried, his eyes wide with fear as he spotted his father, already in his wolf form, fighting off the attackers. But it was too late.

"Jeonghan!" Nara screamed, her voice breaking, as she saw him overwhelmed by the rogues.

Everything was happening too fast. Jeongguk's heart raced as his mother's screams filled the air. Nara dragged him through the chaos, away from the sight of their burning world, her hand gripping his tightly. Tears streamed down her face as they reached a spot hidden beneath a fallen wooden beam.

She knelt down in front of him, her hands trembling as she wiped the tears from his face. "Stay here, Gguk, don't move, okay? I'll come back," she whispered, her voice shaky but trying to sound strong.

"Promise?" Jeongguk's voice was small, broken, his wide doe eyes full of fear, glistening with tears that hadn't fallen yet.

Her heart shattered in that moment. She was his mother, she was supposed to protect him. But she had to fight for their pack, for the people who depended on her. "Y-yes," she choked, her voice thick with sobs. "Yes, my love, I promise." She kissed his tear-streaked face, her lips lingering on his forehead, as if trying to memorize the feel of his skin.

With one last look at him, she turned and ran back toward the battle, her heart heavy with the weight of her promise. She was Luna, and she had to help her people.

Jeongguk stayed frozen under the wooden beam, his small body trembling as he watched the world he knew crumble before his eyes. Flames roared around him, lighting up the night with an eerie glow. Screams echoed through the air, the sound of his pack falling one by one. His heart pounded in his chest as he peeked out, watching the chaos unfold.

People were dying—his family, his friends. And he was helpless, hiding, unable to do anything but watch. Tears silently fell down his cheeks as he whispered his mother's name, hoping she would come back, praying her promise wasn't just empty words.

But deep down, in the pit of his young heart, fear began to settle in, a fear that whispered she might never return.
