"Listen, Gguk, whoever runs to Hyung and grabs his hand first is the winner. Deal?" Mingyu said, gripping the straps of his backpack tightly, ready to dash outside the school as soon as the bell rang and hold Luna's hand.
"Hyung isn't coming, Min," Jeongguk scoffed, though his eyes gleamed with determination. He was already prepared to be the first to impress his Hyung.
"What do you mean?" Mingyu asked. Both boys sat in the classroom as other students busied themselves, preparing to leave for the day.
"Tomorrow night is the Luna celebration, so he's busy. He won't come," Jeongguk replied, clutching his backpack straps tightly and gluing his gaze to the clock on the wall.
"Oh, so he's not coming..." Mingyu muttered, his ten-year-old, naïve mind easily believing Jeongguk. While it was true Taehyung was busy, the part about him not coming was a lie. No matter how occupied he was, Taehyung always showed up, no exceptions.
Jeongguk nodded, a sly smirk forming on his lips. He wasn't about to let Mingyu get to Hyung first. Taehyung was his Hyung and his alone.
Mingyu might be a nice guy who respected Taehyung and was Jeongguk's friend, but Jeongguk still disliked how close Mingyu tried to be with Hyung.
Having lived with Taehyung for four years and shared a friendship with Mingyu, Jeongguk had come to fully trust both of them.
He had opened up more, becoming his talkative and expressive self again, which filled Taehyung's heart with happiness and gratitude toward Mingyu for his influence.
As soon as the bell rang, Jeongguk bolted from his seat and dashed out of the classroom.
Mingyu, still processing what had just happened, froze for a few moments before realizing what was going on. He quickly chased after Jeongguk, bumping into other students along the way.
Both boys were laser-focused on the competition, determined to win.
"Gguk! You're a cheater!" Mingyu yelled, running as fast as he could. But it wasn't his fault Jeongguk was a true blood Alpha, naturally faster than most Alphas.
Taehyung stood by the school gate, leaning against his car, waiting for Jeongguk.
He had come straight from the ballroom, exhausted from spending the day helping staff with ideas and designs for the celebration of his Luna announcement.
Namjoon would remain the Alpha of the pack until Taehyung found his mate. But Jin, the current Luna, would soon pass the position to Taehyung. At twenty-four, it was now Taehyung's time to step into his role as Luna.
Taehyung's eyes widened when he saw Jeongguk sprinting toward him, Mingyu close behind. Both boys were running like their lives depended on it, as if the prize was something priceless.
