Some truths are too heavy to share, not because they lack courage, but because the heart fears the weight it might place on another.

The moonlight filtered through the large windows of Luna's private quarter, casting a soft glow over the room.

Taehyung sat on the edge of his bed, his posture tense as he watched the boy—no, the wolf—standing across from him.

Justin, Jeongguk's wolf, had taken over, and though the body in front of him was Jeongguk's, the aura was entirely different. Justin carried himself with an authority and confidence that Jeongguk, despite his arrogance, had not yet grown into.

"Are you going to talk, or should I drag it out of you?" Taehyung's voice was calm but edged with irritation, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. He had little patience for Justin's games tonight.

The True Blood Alpha smirked as he leaned back against the wall, crossing his arms like he owned the entire pack. "Impatient, aren't you, beauty?" Justin's deep voice carried an infuriating mix of mockery and flirtation.

Taehyung rolled his eyes. "Don't call me that. Just tell me why you're here."

Justin chuckled, the sound low and rich. "You've always been so demanding, beauty. But fine, let's talk." He pushed off the wall, his crimson eyes locking with Taehyung's. "You already know the truth, don't you?"

Taehyung inhaled deeply, steadying himself. "You mean about Jeongguk?"

"Not Jeongguk. Us," Justin corrected, stepping closer. "You've known since the day you found him in that ruined pack, haven't you? You knew he was your mate."

Taehyung's jaw tightened, memories flashing through his mind—the six-year-old boy he had pulled from the wreckage, his wide, tear-filled eyes looking up at him with a mix of fear and hope.

He had been 20 then. The bond had snapped into place the moment he'd touched Jeongguk, but he had buried the truth deep.

"Yes," Taehyung admitted, his voice softer now. "I knew." He met Justin's gaze, his own eyes hardening. "But Jeongguk doesn't. And he won't. Not until he's ready."

Justin smirked, his expression both amused and proud. "Smart of you. The kid's a mess right now—arrogant, reckless. He wouldn't handle the truth well."

Taehyung's lips twitched in a wry smile. "He's more than a mess. He's impossible. Raising him has been... exhausting."

Justin let out a laugh. "Tell me about it. I've been stuck with him in here," he tapped his temple, "for sixteen years. Do you know how many times I've wanted to take over and knock some sense into him?"

"I can imagine," Taehyung said dryly.

Justin's smirk faded, replaced by a more serious expression. "But he's still my human, and I'm proud of him. Even if he's a brat."

Taehyung raised a brow and rose up from the bed, "Then why are you here, Justin? Why take over now?"

Justin hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Because things are getting dangerous, Luna. Rogues are circling closer every day. And Jeongguk... he's not ready. Not for what's coming, and definitely not for the truth about us."

Taehyung's heart clenched at the mention of rogues. Protecting the pack was his priority, and Jeongguk's safety was always at the forefront of his mind. "So, you plan to keep him in the dark?"

"For now," Justin said firmly. "He'll find out when he turns 22, just like every other wolf. Until then, it's better this way. He wouldn't understand the bond between us, not yet. He'd... ruin it."

Taehyung's shoulders sagged slightly, the weight of his responsibility pressing down on him. "And what about you? How do you feel about all of this?"

Justin's gaze softened, and for a moment, the arrogance faded. "I've waited this long, beauty. I can wait a few more years. Besides, I know you're worth it."

Taehyung's cheeks warmed slightly, but he quickly schooled his expression. "Flattery won't get you anywhere."

Justin grinned, the cockiness returning. "I don't need flattery. I'm a True Blood Alpha, remember? You're already mine."

Taehyung scoffed, but there was a hint of a smile on his lips. "You're insufferable."

"And you're beautiful," Justin countered smoothly.

Taehyung rolled his eyes, turning toward the window to hide the small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Just make sure Jeongguk doesn't find out. He's not ready."

Justin nodded, his tone serious again. "He won't hear it from me. But you should be ready, beauty. The day he finds out, everything will change."

Taehyung stared out at the moonlit forest, his thoughts heavy. "I know."

Justin took a step back, his form shifting slightly as Jeongguk began to regain control. "I'll see you soon, beauty," he said with a smirk before his eyes faded back to their usual dark brown.

Taehyung turned around, his sharp gaze softening as he met the pair of familiar brown eyes now staring back at him. The usual fire in Jeongguk's expression was dimmed by confusion and concern.

For a moment, Jeongguk just stood there, searching his hyung's face, until a realization struck him. His eyes widened, and he closed the distance between them in a heartbeat.

"Hyung? Did he hurt you?" Jeongguk's voice trembled slightly, a mix of panic and anger. "I know he's arrogant and a fucking ass—"

Taehyung cut him off, cupping Jeongguk's face with both hands. His touch was firm yet gentle, grounding the younger wolf.

"Gguk," Taehyung said softly, his lips curving into a small, reassuring smile. "I'm fine. He didn't hurt me."

Jeongguk's brow furrowed as he tilted his head, still unconvinced. "Are you sure? Because I swear, if he—"

"Shh," Taehyung interrupted, shaking his head with a light chuckle. "Look at you, all grown up. Taller than me now." His hands lingered on Jeongguk's cheeks for a moment before falling back to his sides.

Jeongguk blinked, caught off guard by the unexpected shift in tone. "Hyung, don't change the subject—"

"I'm serious," Taehyung said, his voice steady but warm. "You've grown so much. I'm proud of you, Gguk."

The compliment struck a chord in Jeongguk, his shoulders relaxing ever so slightly. But the protective edge in his tone remained. "Even if I've grown, it doesn't mean I'll let anyone mess with you, hyung. Not even... him."

Taehyung smiled softly, his chest tightening with affection for the boy he'd raised. "I know you won't."

Jeongguk stepped back slightly, his gaze flickering as if searching for answers. "Hyung... What did he want? Why so suddenly? And how did he communicate with you? Surely he has some magic."

Taehyung hesitated, the weight of Justin's earlier words pressing on him like a heavy cloak. But he kept his face neutral, unwilling to let Jeongguk see the storm brewing beneath.

"Nothing you need to worry about, Ggukie," Taehyung said, ruffling Jeongguk's hair like he used to when Jeongguk was younger. "It's late. Go rest."

Jeongguk frowned but didn't push further, his trust in Taehyung outweighing his curiosity. "Okay, hyung. Goodnight."

As Jeongguk turned and left the room, going to his own room. Taehyung let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

The bond between them was a delicate thread, and each passing day made it harder to maintain the balance. He only hoped that when the truth came out, Jeongguk would be ready to face it—and everything it meant.
