"I have a fever."

Before Jeongguk could register what Taehyung meant, soft lips covered his, stealing the breath right from his lungs.

It was slow—unhurried, as if Taehyung had all the time in the world to make Jeongguk feel the weight of everything he couldn't put into words.

Jeongguk stiffened for only a second before his body responded instinctively, hands sliding to Taehyung's waist, pulling him closer.

The warmth of Taehyung's mouth, the gentle pressure, the way he sighed softly against Jeongguk's lips—it all sent a shiver down Jeongguk's spine.

Taehyung tasted like salt and something undeniably his—something Jeongguk had been craving for far longer than he wanted to admit.

When Taehyung finally pulled away, Jeongguk barely had time to catch his breath before Taehyung whispered, "why are you so red?"

His voice was quiet, but there was something raw in it, something that made Jeongguk more flustered.

Jeongguk swallowed, resting his forehead against Taehyung's. "Maybe because you are kissing me."

Taehyung's lips quirked up slightly, but his fingers clutched Jeongguk's shirt tightly, like he was afraid Jeongguk might slip away. His voice was even softer when he said while grinning "is that so?"

Jeongguk's throat went dry. "Hyung—"

Taehyung shook his head, his eyes flickering with something unreadable, he murmured. "I... I need you close tonight."

Jeongguk exhaled, nodding without hesitation. He guided Taehyung back onto the bed, tucking them both beneath the blanket. The room was cool, but Taehyung's body was warm against him, a feverish heat that seeped into Jeongguk's skin as they curled into each other.

Taehyung pressed his face into Jeongguk's chest, his breath fanning against his collarbone. His arms tightened around Jeongguk's waist, as if anchoring himself.

The morning air was crisp, the first rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains as Taehyung stood by the window, watching the pack come to life outside.

The sounds of wolves stretching, training, and preparing for the day echoed in the distance, a steady reminder of the life they had built here.

The tension from the previous night still clung to the edges of his mind, but there was also a newfound clarity. They had talked— not much —and even if the road ahead wasn't easy, at least they weren't walking it alone.

A soft rustling came from the bed, followed by a deep, sleepy groan. "You're up early."

Taehyung turned, catching the sight of Jeongguk sprawled across the bed, his hair sticking up in different directions. A faint crease from the pillow ran across his cheek, and his eyes were barely open, still heavy with sleep.

"You should go back to sleep," Taehyung said, voice softer than he intended.

Jeongguk hummed, squinting at him. "You should come back to bed."

Taehyung huffed out a small laugh, shaking his head. "We have too much to do today."

Jeongguk groaned dramatically and flopped onto his stomach, burying his face into Taehyung's pillow. His muffled voice came out sluggish. "Exactly why we should stay here. Just for a little longer."
