Today, Jungkook would step into the world of school.
Taehyung stood before the mirror, applying the last touches of lip gloss to his plump lips.
But his heart was focused not on his appearance but on the small boy sitting on the edge of the bed behind him. Jungkook's head was bowed, fingers fidgeting nervously, as if he could physically manifest the apprehension that filled the room.
"Can I not go?" Jungkook's voice was barely above a whisper, tinged with vulnerability.
Taehyung turned to him, a soft smile breaking through the concern etched on his face. "So who will join the class then? Me? Do you want me to go and sit with the kids?" he joked, trying to coax a smile from the boy.
Jungkook's expression shifted just slightly, a shy smile appearing as he imagined Taehyung surrounded by kids his age, a comical sight indeed. "No, that's my place," he replied, his cheeks flushing a deeper shade.
As Taehyung chuckled, he felt warmth wash over him. Jungkook had a way of making the simplest moments feel special.
He grabbed his phone and car keys, knowing their pack was so vast that they relied on cars to travel to schools, parks, and shops—it was more like a city than a pack.
"Alright then, let's go," he said, offering his hand to Jungkook. There was a moment of hesitation, and then Jungkook's small hand slipped into his, a shy blush creeping over his cheeks.
"Jimin had to do something today, he can't join us," Taehyung said gently, noticing Jungkook's eyes wandering down the hallway where Jimin usually appeared, ready to share in their adventures.
"Okay," Jungkook replied, his voice soft as they made their way to the kitchen. As they entered, the sound of laughter filled the air, mingling with the clatter of pots and pans.
Jin, Taehyung's father, was scolding a few maids for not cooking or cleaning to his standards, but the laughter in his tone lightened the reprimands.
"Do you know—"
"Appa!" Taehyung interrupted, stepping into the kitchen, where the maids quickly bowed in respect. He felt the warmth of familiarity surrounding him. "We're leaving, I wanted to say goodbye."
Jin turned, his face breaking into a wide smile. "Good! You can go." He pulled Taehyung into a warm hug, holding him close for a moment, before turning his attention to Jungkook, who stood shyly behind Taehyung's leg.
Jin crouched down, giving Jungkook a gentle pat on the head. "You'll be just fine, Kid. Remember to be yourself." Jungkook shifted closer to Taehyung, seeking comfort in his presence.
After exchanging goodbyes, they left the pack house, stepping into the sunlight that warmed their skin. Taehyung fastened Jungkook's seatbelt before starting the car.
"You don't have to feel nervous," Taehyung said as he drove. "The kids here are kind. You'll make friends before you even know it." He wanted to reassure Jungkook.
After a short drive, they arrived at the school. Taehyung parked and, as he stepped out, a school guard immediately approached, recognizing the car belonging to the future Luna and bowed.
He opened the door for Jungkook, who hesitated for a moment, his small body trembling with a mixture of fear and anticipation. "Let's go, Gguk," Taehyung urged, holding out his hand, hoping to ease the boy's worries.
"I've already spoken with the principal, he's prepared everything for you," Taehyung reassured him as they approached the entrance.
The hallways were quiet, classes in session, and Taehyung felt a pang of nostalgia for his own school days.
As they reached the principal's office, Taehyung knocked softly on the door before entering at the invitation of a low voice.
"Luna!" Principal Choi Wooshik exclaimed, standing up from his swivel chair. His eyes sparkled with recognition and warmth. "It's been a long time!"
"Stop calling me Luna," Taehyung replied, rolling his eyes playfully but unable to hide his smile. "I told you, I'm not Luna right now."
Wooshik laughed, shaking his head. "Alright, alright! What brings you here? Is that your—" His gaze shifted to Jungkook, and his eyes widened. "Don't tell me he's your son!"
"Shut up! He's Jeongguk, the boy I told you about," Taehyung said, a mix of pride and protectiveness in his voice.
"Great! Hello, Jeongguk!" Wooshik knelt down to Jungkook's level, his smile warm and inviting. "You're going to love this school. If anything happens, don't hesitate to tell me, okay? I'm Taehyung's friend."
Jungkook clutched Taehyung's hand tightly, a wave of comfort washing over him at Wooshik's kindness. "Okay," he whispered, not entirely understanding but feeling the sincerity in the principal's words.
"Okay, Mr. Lee will take you to your class," Wooshik said, calling over the teacher to guide Jungkook. He glanced at Taehyung, recognizing the protective energy radiating from him.
Taehyung knelt down in front of Jungkook, his expression serious yet tender. "Don't hesitate to tell your teacher if anything happens. He will call me immediately, okay? Just enjoy your class. You're stronger than you think."
Jungkook's heart swelled with gratitude, "Thank you," he murmured, his voice barely audible. He didn't quite understand why Taehyung always took such care of him, but it made him feel cherished.
Taehyung smiled warmly, brushing a thumb over Jungkook's cheek. "You're welcome, little one."
As Mr. Lee arrived, Taehyung felt a pang in his chest. This was a turning point, a moment that marked Jungkook stepping into a new world.
"Okay, let's go," Mr. Lee said gently, guiding Jungkook toward the door.
Taehyung watched as Jungkook walked away, the small figure becoming smaller with each step. His heart raced with mixed emotions—pride, worry, and a deep-seated love.
He wanted nothing more than to protect Jungkook from any pain, but he knew this was a necessary step in his growth.
As Jungkook glanced back one last time, Taehyung raised his hand in a reassuring wave. "You can do this, Gguk," he whispered to himself, heart swelling with affection. "You're never alone."
"He is polite kid" Wooshik stated, as Jungkook and Mr lee left his office.
"I know, he was the future Alpha of his pack if—" Wooshik cut off Taehyung.
"yeah, I know, don't tell me" He uttered to light up the mood but earned a glare from Taehyung.
"Okay, so I'm leaving then, keep your eyes on Jungkook"
With that, Taehyung stepped out of the office, feeling a renewed sense of purpose.
He walked back to the car, the sun shining brightly above, illuminating the path ahead..
