The morning sun spilled through the massive windows of the estate, its warm rays spilling across the pristine marble floors of Taehyung's quarters.
Dressed in a silk shirt and tailored trousers that fit him like a second skin, Taehyung adjusted the cuffs of his sleeves in front of the mirror. His black hair shimmered under the sunlight, framing a face so striking it seemed almost unreal.
Yet, today, beauty was the last thing on his mind.
The door creaked open quietly, and a maid peeked inside, her presence hesitant yet dutiful. "Young Master, breakfast is ready. Shall I set up the table in the dining hall, or would you prefer to eat here?"
Taehyung glanced at her reflection in the mirror and offered a faint smile. "The dining hall is fine. Is Jeongguk awake yet?"
"Yes, Young Master. He's up and already in the garden," the maid replied with a bow before retreating.
Taehyung sighed softly. It had been a month since Jeongguk started school, and though the boy appeared to be adjusting, Taehyung couldn't help the lingering worry in his heart.
As he turned to leave the room, the door slowly opened, and Jeongguk appeared like a whirlwind, his small frame carrying an energy that still seemed hesitant at times.
"Hyung," Jeongguk called out in a soft voice as he entered.
"Yes, Gguk?" Taehyung asked, kneeling slightly to meet the boy's gaze.
"Can Mingyu come over? He wants to see the pack house" Jeongguk said, fidgeting with his small fingers, his big eyes looking up at Taehyung expectantly.
Taehyung thought for a moment before smiling. "Of course, why not? He's your friend, and he's welcome anytime."
Jeongguk's smile widened with excitement. "Thank you Hyung"
"You're welcome, Ggukie. When is he coming? You could've told me sooner so I could prepare some snacks for you both—wait did you eat breakfast yet?"
Jeongguk nodded, his smile faltering just slightly. "Jin" He paused for moments "Jin Appa fed me when everyone was asleep," he said quietly, almost testing the words as he spoke them.
Taehyung's smile remained steady, his heart swelling with pride. The fact that Jeongguk was beginning to call His dad "appa" was progress, and it was exactly what Taehyung had hoped for since the beginning.
"That's great, Ggukie," Taehyung said warmly. "Let's go let the maids know, okay? We'll get everything ready for Mingyu." He stood up, ruffling Jeongguk's messy black hair as the boy smiled.
As they stepped out into the hallway, they passed Jimin, who was leaned dramatically against the wall with a playful pout. "So, you've found yourself someone and decided to ignore me, huh?" Jimin huffed, crossing his arms.
