Some nights I hear movement underneath my bed.

This time....curiosity got the best of me.

I lean over, hesitant. I was shaking, scared of what I might discover.

But I take a peek anyways.

It was a doll.

I reach out and tug it towards me.

Picking it up,I examine it.

It was really realistic looking.

Its eyes shift over at me and I shriek, dropping it.

It seems to grunt in pain.

"Vivian,honey?"

I freeze. Did it just talk....?

Its mouth was still...but I could have sworn that noise came from inside of it.

"Vivian? Let me out, please." It says.

Everything inside me screamed not to touch it.

"Just press my button on the bottom of my foot."

Quivering,I reach out and press it.

Her eyes turn vacant and her mouth drops wide open.

Black fog disperses out and I cough, waving it away.

"Vivian? Yoo-hoo! Over here,darling."

I look behind me to see a tall, black and slender looking figure. Horrifyingly scary.

It was shaped like a woman.

I couldn't move.

She smiles.

"You don't have to fear me,Vivian. I've watched you. You're a very kind soul that illuminates my darkness. You remind me of my daughter, who once lived here. She left me behind..."

I blink and she leans in.

"You're a very special young lady."

She cups my cheek. Her slender fingers were cold,yet...it was so comforting.

"Not many children can see us. I wonder what your destiny consists of?"

With that, she gives a faint smile and returns to her doll form.

"Hold me,Vivian."

I tilt my head, getting back in bed and holding her to my chest softly.

She was just...lonely.

How many lives were stuck here on this earth?

Most of all...why was I saved? What was so special about me?
