The events of recent months...
Lila's family had accepted an invitation to dinner at their new apartment and Lila was nervous as hell, having spent most of the afternoon getting everything ready. Five had some work to do and didn't get home until half an hour before they arrived.
"Do you have any advice for me?"
"What advice do you mean?"
"How not to mess things up even more with your family..."
"Be yourself... I mean... the version of yourself that's sweet and charming, not the version that wants to tell everyone to go to hell."
"I could try that for starters."
She reminded him of some basic things, like good and absolutely bad topics of conversation in their company. But just enough to not be too obvious, "if it goes well, you'll eventually get to know them yourself..."
"And if it doesn't go well, I'll be blacklisted forever, huh?"
"Maybe... but you got off my list too, I believe you!" She kissed him. Right after that, the doorbell rang.
The first dinner was an embarrassment, the next two weeks later was much better. Finally, Lila's parents invited both of them over for dinner. Lila suspected that perhaps this was on the right track.

"We'll make this wall pastel red, the one by the door yellow, the one by the window blue, and the last one green."
"Are you sure about this? Won't it be a little too colorful?"
"Well, what's the harm? Do you have something against colors?"
Lila and Five set about painting a room for their baby.
They had most of the work done when Lila turned and watched Five painting the opposite wall. Her eyes played devilishly as she ran her brush over his back and stained his black t-shirt.
"Hey!" He turned to her and Lila burst out laughing. "What are you doin'?"
"I want to unlearn your aversion to color!"
"I don't have an aversion to color."
"Really?" She scribbled him paintbrush again.
"And you'd like that, huh?" He also used a paint brush against her.
They started chasing each other around the room and they both ended up stained with all four colors. Lila had a great time and infected Five with her joy.
"Happy?" Five looked at her and himself, "God, I think I have it in my hair too!"
"I know you had fun, so don't be a grump, let's get cleaned up... I'll help you with that," she winked at him.
"Is that an invitation to take a shower together?"
"Sure," she grabbed his hand and headed into the bathroom with him. After they'd washed most of the paint off, they made their shower even more enjoyable by making love right there.

"God, I can't believe it!" Lila was just looking at Five's new ID. They had a current photo and a new formal name: Donovan Hargreeves.
"I told you I liked that name."
"I know, but seeing it official like that is something else entirely," she laughed. "I guess you'll always be mostly Five to everyone anyway."
"That's possible, I haven't even told anyone about it, but it might make things a little easier now and then."
Lila handed him his ID and driver's license, "Maybe don't even tell them, or one of your brothers will make up a nickname for you, Donnie Brasco."
