Inside a vintage, cozy looking ice cream parlor, Rosalind and the twins are sitting together on the balcony, enjoying a good sweet flavor.
"What'd you guys got?" Rosalind asks, gesturing at their ice creams.
The two tribrids were almost trembling. Being in front of the person they love and miss the most, yet not being able to say a thing, not seeing the love and tenderness that was always there.
Not that Rosalind is any different from the kind and sweet person she's always been, but the love of a mother is completely different.
"Almond and chocolate" the two of them answered in unison.
Oh!
This is quite the surprise. It's her favorite one too.
"Oh!" Rosalind smiles "mine too!"
Theodore sees Hope's hands starting to tremble even more and from behind the table, he grips her hand, trying to pass as much comfort as possible.
"So..." Rosalind starts "...how old are you two?"
Theodore clears the lump in his throat.
"We turn sixteen soon" he answers.
Rosalind nods with a small smile.
"It feels like yesterday I was sixteen too" she chuckles "how's school? Thought about college yet or not?"
She sees them gulping and adverting their eyes. Rosalind tilts her head to the side, confused.
Does she said something wrong?
They look sad and broken.
I mean...what just happened?
"Are you...guys okay?" she hesitantly asks, not wanting to invade their privacy or make them uncomfortable.
Hope nods silently, looking down at her ice cream, eating quietly, while Theodore clenched his jaw, holding back his tears.
"It's...it's fine" he says "I'm the next quarterback and Hope is captain of volleyball team"
Rosalind smiles, remembering her own times of school.
"We got...early acceptances for college" Hope murmurs, almost as a whisper.
The blonde hybrid smiles widely.
