Omniscient
San DiegoBack against the counter, Elias stared at nothing in particular as Harrison and Dallas continued their conversation. His mind was elsewhere, drifting in and out, replaying the last few days over and over in his head. Coming back from the Turks and Caicos vacation with Trinity had been smooth enough—until he walked into the penthouse.
The place didn't even look like it had been touched. No signs of forced entry, no damage. But all of his most valuable jewelry was gone, except for his Super Bowl rings, safely locked in the case they couldn't crack.
It was almost eerie, how precise the robbery was. They knew exactly what to take and how to avoid drawing attention. Elias couldn't shake the feeling that someone on the inside had orchestrated it.
"So what you gone do?" Harrison asked, pulling him out of his thoughts with a heavy sigh.
Elias blinked a few times before looking at him. "What you mean?"
"I mean, you can't just let that shit slide. Somebody clearly set you up. You not thinking about getting to the bottom of it?"
Elias leaned forward, elbows resting on the counter. "I mean no shit. But what's that really gonna solve right now? Ain't like I can get my shit back unless I find the people who did it—and I ain't tryna make things worse." He paused, running a hand down his face. "I got a kid on the way and shit. I can't afford to get caught up in some street shit right now."
Dallas, who had been quietly listening, chimed in. "Yeah, but you can't let people think they can get away with hitting you like that either. Once folks know you soft, it don't stop."
Elias clenched his jaw, the tension building in his chest. "I know that. I'm not about to sit around like I ain't got no options. But I gotta be smart about it. I'm already thinking about moving out of the place, so it's whatever."
Harrison leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "Moving? You really tryna run from this?"
Elias shot him a look. "It ain't running. I'm protecting what's mine. They hit my spot once—they'll do it again if I stay put."
There was a beat of silence, and Dallas nodded in agreement. "You got a point. But whoever did this gotta know there's consequences. If you ain't making moves now, just be careful when you do."
"Yeah aight." Elias sighed softly. His phone lit up with a text message as Trinity texted him saying she was on her way with Siren making him only like the message before locking his phone again. "I already suggested to Trin that we should move in together and at first I told her we could stay here or get a house but we definitely moving out this bitch now."
"Well, shit. You know they just got done building in my community. It runs from five mill and up," Harrison mentioned and Elias hummed remembering that thought. Harrison did live in a gated community but Eli wasn't really planning on living in the same area nor did he have a problem with spending a lot of money to make sure they'd live in the best community in San Diego.
"Y'all seen they thinking about trading for Anthony on Defense," Dallas started up and Harrison sucked his teeth.
"I ain't playing with that nigga on my team plus ain't he hurt? What we picking his ass up for anyway?"
"That loser play good, that's why," Elias sighed. "I could see him on the team but since he took out one of our actual players and we got beef with him, they could send that idea to hell. It's gone be a broken locker room for sure,"
"And we don't need that. We need another Super Bowl, you finna have a baby, I just got married, Dallas still Dallas," Dallas sucked his teeth and stuck his middle finger up making all three laugh. "And we ain't got Torrance so we need to play this year like it means something," Harrison spoke.
