Title: The Charity Ball Mix-Up

Wayne Manor was glittering with lights, music floating through the grand ballroom as Gotham’s elite mingled and exchanged pleasantries. Bruce Wayne had pulled out all the stops for tonight’s charity gala, and of course, he had “strongly encouraged” all of his children to attend, much to their chagrin.

Jason, Dick, and Duke huddled near the entrance, sipping their drinks and eyeing the newcomers.

“Alright, here they come,” Jason muttered, looking towards the grand staircase.

“They didn’t,” Dick whispered, his eyes widening.

“They wouldn’t,” Jason echoed.

“They did,” Duke said flatly.

Sure enough, Stephanie and Tim walked into the ballroom arm in arm—but it wasn’t just the fact that they were late that caught everyone’s attention. It was what they were wearing.

Stephanie strode confidently, dressed in a sharply tailored black and red tuxedo, exuding a kind of swagger that had half the room doing double-takes. Meanwhile, Tim was in a bright purple cocktail dress, complete with heels, his face set in a determined grimace as he tried not to trip.

Jason choked on his drink, sputtering. “Oh. My. God.”

“They switched outfits?” Dick whispered, his voice laced with disbelief, but he couldn’t hold back the grin that was spreading across his face.

“I think Bruce did that by accident,” Duke said, trying to keep a straight face.

Jason laughed, a little too loudly, earning a few glares from the guests. “How do you mess up that bad?”

Across the room, Bruce caught sight of them. He paused mid-conversation, eyes narrowing as he spotted Stephanie in the tux and Tim in the dress. He let out the deepest sigh, his shoulders slumping in tired defeat.

Stephanie was beaming, seemingly unaware—or perhaps just unfazed—by the switch. “How’s my hair, Tim? Still in place?”

Tim, wobbling slightly on the heels but maintaining his usual composure, grumbled. “You owe me for this, Steph.”

“I mean, it fits you well, Tim. You make it work,” Dick called out, barely suppressing a laugh.

“Shut up, Dick,” Tim muttered, his face flushing as he glanced down at the purple heels. “I’m never letting Bruce live this down.”

“I think you’re rocking it,” Stephanie added with a wink, patting Tim on the arm.

Bruce finally made his way over, his expression that of a man who had long since accepted his fate as a father of chaos. He rubbed his temples. “I…might have mixed up the outfits when I sent them to your rooms.”

Tim raised an eyebrow. “Might have?”

“Definitely mixed them up,” Stephanie corrected, smirking.

Bruce sighed again, the sound of a man resigned to his eternal role as a tired dad. “Let’s just…get through this night without causing any more scenes, okay?”

Jason snickered from the side. “Too late for that.”

Bruce shot him a look but said nothing, choosing instead to give a nod toward the press gathering near the entrance. “Tim, please try not to trip in those heels.”

Tim shot Bruce a look of pure exasperation. “I’m trying, okay?”

Stephanie gave a playful twirl in her tux, grinning. “I think this is a win. I look good.”

Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose. “Just… try to behave.”

“Try being the keyword,” Duke whispered, grinning.

As the night went on, the mix-up became the talk of the evening, and while Bruce might have been mortified, the rest of the Batkids couldn’t help but revel in the chaos. After all, what was a Wayne family event without a little disaster?
