The night of the Gotham Charity Gala had arrived, and excitement filled the air. The Batfamily had their finest attire ready, and Bruce was stressing over the details as usual. Tim, on the other hand, was prepared to have a great time—until Alfred accidentally handed him a dress instead of his tailored suit.
“Alfred, I asked for the navy blue suit!” Tim exclaimed, holding up the elegant black dress with a slightly ruffled hem, surprised but intrigued.
“My apologies, Master Tim,” Alfred replied, straightening his glasses. “The suit must be with Master Bruce. Perhaps you could wear this instead?”
Tim hesitated, considering the possibilities. His mother had taught him about fashion and makeup before she passed, and an idea began to form in his mind. “You know what? Why not? Let’s see how this goes.”
With a determined nod, Tim retreated to his room. After a quick shower, he slipped into the dress, admiring how the fabric flowed around him. He grabbed the makeup kit he’d stashed away for emergencies and began to transform his look. A little foundation, some eyeliner, and a swipe of lipstick later, he was staring at a reflection he barely recognized—a stunning young woman with striking features, the kind that could easily turn heads.
As he finished with his hair, twisting it into an elegant updo, he felt a rush of excitement. This could be the perfect opportunity to have a little fun and let loose. Maybe he could even tease Bruce about it later.
When Tim stepped into the gala, he was met with a flurry of glances. The elegant dress hugged his figure perfectly, and the transformation was complete. He felt confident, alive, and ready to flirt with the evening.
As he mingled through the crowd, he caught the attention of many, but one person stood out among the rest. Azruelle Von Valhidra, the enigmatic and charming heir to a powerful family, was gliding across the ballroom, his eyes locking onto Tim with curiosity.
Azruelle approached, a smirk playing on his lips. “Well, well, who do we have here?” he asked, leaning slightly closer, his tone smooth and inviting. “A delightful mystery in a beautiful dress. I must say, I’m intrigued.”
Tim fought back a grin, playing along with the persona he had created. “Just someone trying to enjoy the evening. I could say the same about you. You certainly know how to make an entrance.”
Azruelle chuckled, clearly enjoying the exchange. “I’m glad to see someone else embracing the spirit of the gala. What’s your name, lovely?”
“Call me Tessa,” Tim replied, adopting a more feminine lilt in his voice. “And you are quite the charmer, aren’t you?”
“Only when I’m in the presence of beautiful ladies,” Azruelle flirted back, his gaze unwavering. “Tell me, Tessa, are you here with anyone?”
Tim feigned a coy look. “Not yet. I might just be looking for someone to sweep me off my feet tonight.”
“Consider me your guide, then,” Azruelle said, extending his arm with an air of confidence. “Shall we dance?”
As they twirled on the dance floor, Tim found himself caught up in the moment, the music swirling around them. He skillfully led Azruelle in a graceful waltz, feeling a rush of exhilaration as they moved together.
“So, Tessa,” Azruelle began, his voice lowering. “What do you think of Gotham’s elite? The wealth, the power, the drama?”
“It’s all quite… interesting,” Tim replied, skillfully deflecting. “But I prefer adventure over the mundane.”
“Oh? An adventurous spirit?” Azruelle raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “I like that. Maybe you can show me your favorite spots in Gotham sometime. I could use a guide who knows the city well.”
Tim chuckled lightly. “Only if you promise not to treat me like a damsel in distress.”
“I can assure you, I’m no knight,” Azruelle said with a charming grin. “But I might just be the hero you need.”
As the night wore on, Tim enjoyed the flirtation, all the while keeping his true identity hidden. He was fully immersed in the experience, the laughter and banter flowing effortlessly. Each moment with Azruelle felt electric, and Tim couldn’t help but enjoy the attention.
Meanwhile, across the ballroom, Bruce had finally arrived, dressed impeccably. He scanned the room, searching for Tim, only to find a familiar figure laughing and dancing with Azruelle.
“Is that…?” Bruce muttered, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. He couldn’t believe his eyes. “What is Tim wearing?”
“Looks like he’s having fun,” Dick replied, leaning over Bruce’s shoulder. “Maybe we should intervene?”
“Let him enjoy himself. He seems to be holding his own,” Bruce said, although a protective instinct bubbled up within him.
Back on the dance floor, Azruelle leaned closer to Tim, the music fading into the background. “I must say, you’re unlike anyone I’ve ever met, Tessa. There’s a fierceness about you. It’s refreshing.”
“Thank you, Azruelle,” Tim replied, a smile dancing on his lips. “I could say the same about you.”
Just then, Bruce made his way over, trying to appear nonchalant despite the annoyance bubbling within. “Tim,” he called, his voice steady. “May I speak with you?”
Tim’s heart raced as he turned to see Bruce standing there, arms crossed and expression unreadable. “Uh, sure, Dad,” he replied, trying to maintain his composure.
As he stepped away from Azruelle, Bruce leaned closer, lowering his voice. “What are you doing dressed like that?”
“Just having some fun,” Tim replied, grinning mischievously. “You know, embracing the spirit of the gala.”
“Fun or not, this is not what I expected. We’ll talk about this later,” Bruce said, his voice firm but softened by the concern in his eyes.
“Relax, Bruce! It’s just a dress,” Tim assured him, waving a hand dismissively.
Azruelle, who had been observing the exchange, raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “You’re quite lucky to have such a strong protector, Tessa.”
Tim smirked, “Oh, you have no idea.”
As the night went on, Tim’s spirit remained unbroken. Even as he flirted with Azruelle, he couldn’t help but feel a thrill from the night’s unexpected turn. Bruce’s protective instincts were admirable, but Tim was having the time of his life, navigating the gala as both Tim and Tessa, enjoying the attention, the laughter, and the thrill of the unknown.
Later, as the evening wrapped up and Tim prepared to leave, he realized he had learned something valuable. Sometimes, breaking from the norm—even if just for a night—could lead to unexpected connections and adventures. As he glanced back at Azruelle, who waved goodbye, Tim felt a warmth in his heart, knowing that both sides of him had made an unforgettable impression that night.
