Title: The Drake Gambit
The atmosphere in the Batcave was tense. The Batcomputer's massive screen flickered, displaying a map of Gotham with red-marked targets scattered throughout the city. Bruce, the Justice League, and the entire Batfamily were gathered around, waiting as Tim finished scribbling the last details of his plan on the holo-board.
Tim turned to face the crowd, his eyes gleaming with a dangerous kind of excitement. “Alright, everyone. Here’s the plan,” he began, his voice calm but edged with an unmistakable thrill.
He explained it step by step, his tone casual, as if proposing something as mundane as a grocery list. But as the plan unfolded, expressions shifted from curiosity to unease, then to outright horror.
The proposal involved setting off a series of carefully orchestrated events that would push multiple villains into conflict with each other, sowing chaos and confusion throughout the criminal underworld. It would force Gotham’s worst to act against one another in a series of staged betrayals, leaving the heroes to pick up the pieces afterward. Tim even had measures in place to impersonate some of the villains and ignite personal feuds. The cherry on top was that they would frame Ra’s al Ghul as the mastermind behind it all, drawing him into a confrontation with several other major players.
The plan wasn’t just cunning—it was ruthless, almost sadistically intricate in its design. It would undoubtedly lead to devastation and collateral damage, but Tim had calculated that the city would be in better shape afterward. In theory.
Batman’s eyes narrowed as Tim finished. “Tim… are you out of your mind? This could turn Gotham into a war zone.”
"Agreed," Wonder Woman said, her arms crossed. "This plan risks too many lives, innocent and otherwise."
Even Jason, who was usually the first to endorse a bit of chaos, raised an eyebrow. “Damn, Replacement. That’s… pretty dark, even for me. Did you actually calculate all this?”
Tim just shrugged, a hint of a smirk on his lips. “Of course. It’s all accounted for. The chaos would be a controlled burn—a forest fire to clear out the deadwood and let the city rebuild.”
The Justice League exchanged uneasy glances, clearly unwilling to condone something that teetered so close to crossing the line.
Then a voice spoke up from the back. “We’re in,” Kon said, stepping forward with Bart and Cassie flanking him. The Young Justice members wore matching expressions of resolve.
Bruce looked between them, his frown deepening. “You can’t seriously be considering this.”
Cassie folded her arms. “Look, we’ve faced villains who’ve threatened the whole world before. Gotham’s a mess right now, and we trust Tim. If he says it’s the best option, then we’re doing it.”
Bart bounced on his heels, a manic grin spreading across his face. “Besides, think of all the chaos we get to unleash! It’s like a game of who-can-blow-up-more stuff.”
Kon nodded in agreement. “We’ve got Tim’s back on this one. If it comes down to it, we can help minimize the damage.”
The cave went silent. Tim gave a nod to his friends, appreciation in his eyes. “Thanks, guys. I knew you’d get it.”
Batman’s jaw tightened. “Tim, I can’t allow this. You’re talking about starting a war.”
Tim’s grin widened, a spark of mischief dancing in his gaze. “Oh, come on, Bruce. You know that’s what I do best.” He glanced at Young Justice, and they exchanged a knowing look. "Besides, when has Gotham ever not been at war?"
For a long moment, no one spoke. Then, Bruce sighed, his voice heavy with resignation. “We’ll need to discuss… modifications. We’re not letting this go forward without backup plans. Lots of them.”
Tim’s eyes gleamed. “Wouldn’t have it any other way.”
As Bruce turned to review the plans, Wonder Woman gave Tim a pointed look. "Don't let this become a habit, Tim."
He simply gave her a small, unapologetic grin. "No promises."
