Title: “The Favorite”

---

It was an ordinary evening in the Batcave. The training room buzzed with energy as the Batfamily—Dick, Jason, Duke, Damian, Barbara, Cassandra, and Stephanie—prepared for their session. They had decided to work on combat strategies, but everyone’s mind was on one thing: Tim Drake.

“Did you guys see what Bruce got Tim for his last birthday?” Jason smirked, throwing a punch at the training dummy. “A freaking motorcycle! What kind of dad buys a kid a motorcycle?”

“Don’t act jealous, Jay,” Dick teased, smirking as he performed a flawless roundhouse kick. “Tim’s just special. Bruce can’t say no to him.”

Jason scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, well, I remember when I asked for a motorcycle. I got a lecture instead.”

“Yeah, same here,” Duke chimed in, adjusting his gloves. “And I didn’t even get a birthday party!”

“Bruce just gave you a Batman cake,” Stephanie said, playfully nudging Duke with her shoulder. “You should be grateful.”

“Cake doesn’t count,” Duke countered, his brow furrowing.

“Let’s not forget,” Barbara interjected, leaning against a wall, arms crossed. “He gave Tim a freaking bat-cave in his bedroom when he moved in. What kind of favoritism is that?”

Cassandra, silently observing, nodded in agreement. She’d noticed it too. Tim was always the one who got special treatment.

Damian crossed his arms, a frown on his face. “Tim doesn’t deserve the attention. He’s just a glorified Robin.”

“Oh, please,” Dick laughed, shaking his head. “You’re just mad he’s better at it than you are. Besides, Tim’s the one who brings in all the tech. Bruce loves that.”

“I don’t care about the tech,” Damian shot back. “I care about the fact that Father is too soft with him.”

“Soft? You mean like how he let Tim skip training to go on a ‘date’ with Superboy?” Jason said with a snicker. “I’m pretty sure Bruce told him he could take the night off.”

“What about the time Tim forgot to do his homework?” Barbara added, raising an eyebrow. “Instead of getting grounded, Bruce just sat down with him to help. Meanwhile, I had to do extra patrols after failing one quiz.”

“You’re all just upset because he’s one of the youngest,” Dick said, shrugging. “He’s like the baby of the family.”

“The baby?” Jason shot back. “More like the golden child. I still remember the time I broke a lamp, and Bruce grounded me for a month. Tim breaks a window, and Bruce buys him a new one!”

“That was one time!” Tim called from the entrance of the cave, having overheard the conversation. “And I didn’t even mean to break it!”

“Doesn’t matter,” Jason replied, smirking. “You’re still Bruce’s favorite.”

Tim shrugged, unbothered. “What can I say? I’m just charming.”

“Charming?” Duke scoffed. “It’s not charm, Tim. It’s a power you hold over Bruce that none of us can understand. It’s like you have him wrapped around your finger.”

Tim laughed lightly, “Well, I do make great coffee.”

“Oh, please,” Damian muttered. “You’re just a pest.”

“Yeah, but I’m Bruce’s pest,” Tim countered, grinning wide.

“That’s it! It’s the coffee!” Stephanie exclaimed, wide-eyed. “Every time he drinks your coffee, he just melts! It’s like you’ve poisoned him with caffeine!”

“Maybe I should start brewing it more often,” Tim mused, a mischievous glint in his eye.

Barbara rolled her eyes. “Don’t even think about it. We don’t need Bruce being even more lenient with you.”

“Tim, just admit it. You’re his favorite, and you’ve been spoiled,” Dick said, chuckling.

“Okay, okay, I’m spoiled,” Tim admitted, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “But can you blame me? I mean, have you seen Bruce? He’s like a dad from a sitcom sometimes.”

“More like a sitcom dad who’s been through a lot,” Duke remarked, crossing his arms as he leaned back against the wall. “I mean, he’s not the worst.”

Just then, Bruce entered the training room, brows furrowing at the sound of laughter. “What’s going on in here?”

“Just discussing how Tim is your favorite,” Jason said with a sly grin. “You know, how you spoil him rotten.”

“I don’t spoil him,” Bruce replied, frowning. “I just… I want to make sure he’s happy.”

“See?” Dick nudged Tim, who looked smug. “Even he admits it!”

Tim smiled brightly at Bruce, who gave him a warm look in return. “Alright, alright. Maybe I do let him get away with a bit more. But he’s earned it.”

“Earned it?” Damian crossed his arms, glaring at Tim. “What have you ever done to earn such favoritism?”

“Simple,” Tim said, leaning back with a grin. “I’m adorable, I save the day, and I’m really good at making Bruce laugh. Plus, I make him coffee.”

Jason burst out laughing. “That’s it! He’s the coffee prince! We’ve figured it out!”

“Tim, I swear,” Bruce sighed, shaking his head but unable to hide the smile creeping onto his face. “You’re impossible.”

The rest of the family laughed as they continued to poke fun at Tim, but they all knew that beneath the jokes was a bond that made them all feel like family. Bruce’s love for each of them was undeniable, but there was a special place in his heart for Tim, and that was something they could all appreciate.

In that moment, surrounded by laughter and playful banter, the Batfamily felt complete. Tim may have been Bruce’s favorite, but they were all a part of something bigger, a family united in their shared purpose and their love for one another.
