Title: “Evidence of Love"
---
Tim Drake sat in his room, a sly grin plastered across his face as he looked at the picture on his screen. He had just edited an image of Bruce Wayne and Batman—two figures intimately close, framed under the soft glow of a Gotham City sunset. The caption read: “Confirmed: Bruce Wayne and Batman are dating! #BatsyLovesBruce #DynamicDuoOfLove.”
“Take that, Dad!” he chuckled to himself, feeling victorious. This was payback for Bruce’s refusal to let him date Superboy. Tim had tried to reason with him, to explain how serious he was about Kon, but Bruce had firmly said no, invoking some ‘protection’ clause that Tim knew was rooted in concern rather than anything else.
With one final click, he posted it on social media. Almost instantly, notifications exploded. Comments ranged from disbelief to outright laughter. The best part? Bruce’s phone, which was currently in the Batcave, lit up like a Christmas tree.
In the depths of the cave, Bruce was deep in thought, analyzing the latest reports of Joker sightings. Suddenly, his phone buzzed incessantly. He glanced down, expecting it to be Alfred reminding him about a meeting. Instead, he was greeted by an avalanche of messages, many of which were from fellow heroes.
“Did you really date Batman?” was the most common query. Confused, Bruce quickly opened his social media app, only to see the picture and caption splashed across his screen.
“What the hell?” he muttered, his brows furrowing.
“Tim,” he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He was always proud of Tim’s quick wit, but this was a new low, even for him.
Just as Bruce was about to text Tim a very serious warning, Alfred’s voice chimed in from the shadows. “Master Bruce, I believe it’s best to address this situation promptly before it escalates further.”
Bruce stood, pacing the cave, his mind racing. He could already picture the tabloids tomorrow, plastering their front pages with rumors and headlines like, “Batman’s Secret Love Affair!”
With a resigned sigh, he dialed Tim’s number, but before he could even hit send, his communicator buzzed with an incoming call from Dick. “Hey, B! Did you see Tim’s post? Classic!” Dick’s laughter echoed through the speaker.
“Dick, this isn’t funny. I need you to help me handle this,” Bruce replied, frustration leaking into his voice.
“Oh come on, don’t tell me you’re actually going to deny your love for the Bat? It’s like the best fan fiction ever!” Dick teased.
Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling the weight of a headache creeping in. “This isn’t a joke, Dick. Tim has crossed a line.”
“Let him have his fun. He’s lucky you love him.”
Bruce paused, considering that. He couldn’t deny that despite Tim’s antics, there was something endearing about his audacity. Tim was his favorite child, after all, and no amount of mockery would change that.
“Fine,” Bruce grumbled. “But I will get him back for this.”
After hanging up, he quickly sent a message to the Bat-family group chat. “Tim is grounded for the next month. No video games, no going out with friends.”
Almost instantly, Tim replied, “But Dad, that’s so unfair! I’m just trying to spread love!”
Bruce smirked at the screen. “You’ll be spreading love in your room, young man.”
Before he could dwell on it further, his communicator chimed again. This time, it was Kon. “Hey, is it true? Are you and Batman dating?”
“No!” Bruce barked back, catching himself. “I mean, no, it’s not true.”
“Dude, just admit it. It would make a killer story!” Kon replied, laughter evident in his voice.
“Kon,” Bruce warned, his patience wearing thin.
Eventually, he decided to take the high road. He composed a tweet of his own: “For the record, Tim Drake is very much grounded. The rumors are completely false. My only relationship is with Gotham.”
Almost immediately, likes began pouring in, but he noticed Tim’s sly response: “But Dad, wouldn’t it be more believable if you just said you loved Batman?”
Bruce chuckled, despite himself. “I can’t believe you,” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head.
That evening, as Tim sat in his room, reveling in his successful prank, there was a knock at his door. “Come in,” he called, bracing for a lecture.
To his surprise, Bruce entered, arms crossed but with an amused glint in his eye. “You know, Tim, your antics could get you in serious trouble one day.”
“I’m lucky I’m your favorite, right?” Tim shot back, unable to resist.
Bruce shook his head, a small smile creeping onto his face. “Yeah, you are. But don’t think this means I won’t ground you for the next month.”
Tim feigned shock. “What? But I was just helping to promote a healthy relationship!”
Bruce rolled his eyes. “You’re impossible.”
“But you love me anyway,” Tim replied, grinning.
“I suppose I do,” Bruce said, ruffling Tim’s hair as he turned to leave. “Just remember, not all relationships are for public consumption.”
As Bruce walked out, he heard Tim murmur, “What a waste. This could’ve been our big reveal.”
Shaking his head, Bruce couldn’t help but smile. Tim may be a pain sometimes, but he wouldn’t trade him for the world.
