Kishibe was not a family man,he knew that,any hopes of him getting married or settling down have been shattered the day he decided to become a devil hunter,its too much or a hassle,having a woman and kids to look after while also having to deal with devils and all,among one other that he refuses to talk about,or even admit to himself,the one that got away...
But now,he's having to look after some 14 year old kid who just so happens to be the only thing keeping the Parasite Devil in check,why Couldn't anyone else take Ren off of Makima? Why couldn't Makima herself take care of the kid? She's already willing to cover all expenses regarding the little brat,but it can't be helped,Ren was following right behind him,they were in a corridor of the apartment complex Kishibe lives in,Kishibe stopped in front of a door,reaching into his trench coat,Ren could hear the rustling of keys from his pocket as he pulled out a keyholder,Kishibe picked a key and unlocked the door to his apartment with it,entering first before Ren,"come on in,and no shoes inside the house" Kishibe orders Ren without even turning to look at him,he went straight into his own apartment,it was a one bed studio apartment,a little crammed,even more so considering the mess around the place,clothes scattered around the room that kishibe would change out of but too lazy to fold up and put them back where they belong,empty plastic boxes of takeout that's been there for a while,along with an empty can of cheap beer or two,while the ashtray was filled with cigarette butts,Ren coughed a little as soon as he entered the apartment,the scent of smoke covering the apartment,Kishibe took notice and opened up a window for the first time in who knows how long,a gust of wind let some much needed fresh air in,Kishibe doesn't really spend much time in his own apartment,and he doesn't remember the last time he ever had guests over,any important meeting regarding his work would be held outside his apartment,be it some Cafe or Restraunt,Kishibe barely even spends the morning in his own apartment to begin with,waking up only to put his clothes on and leave,breakfast lunch and dinner could be taken care of outside.
But now a kid is involved,and he has to actually somewhat try now,he now has to spend time with the kid,and cook him up something to eat,just great,as if his life couldn't get any worse,but oh well,Makima is paying the expenses towards babysitting Ren,maybe he could use the kid to get more money out of the red haired menace...
Ren looked around the place,noticing a shelf with some weird looking artifacts on it,they don't seem like they came from some historical period or anything,they look far too inhuman,Ren walked slowly towards the shelf slowly,getting a closer look at the strange looking artifacts,"No touching,kid" Kishibe says from the other side of the room as he starts to tidy up the living room a little,cleaning out the ashtray,throwing away the takeout and empty cans of beer,he can at least make the kid live in a somewhat acceptable environment
"Oh...okay..." Ren steps back,his eyes still on the artifacts,"what are these,anyway?"
"Devil artifacts,I keep them as souvenirs" Kishibe was still tidying up around the apartment,stupid kid...making him do house chores,the kid has got to earn his keep at some point
"Right..." Ren immediately steps away from the artifacts,not wanting to mess with them or anything,his purple eyes scanned the living room,noticing a wall with pictures framed on them,he took a closer look,in one picture,he can see a woman with beige colored hair and eyepatch kicking a man right in the stomach,Ren assumed it must have been a younger Kishibe,considering the Man had the same scar on his cheek,he looked at another picture,seeing the same woman slap kishibe right in the face,he squinted a little,who's taking all these pictures? And why did kishibe feel the need to keep them?
"What are you looking at,kid?" Kishibe comes up from right behind him,towering over the kid
"Um...nothing" Ren looked up at him,feeling like Kishibe is going to chew him out for prying too much
"Whatever..." Kishibe grumbles and walks away,Ren is surprised,he thought he'd get mad at him,after all,Ren still isn't exactly comfortable around Kishibe,the old man still tried to attack Ren with 100 percent effort,even if Ren dodged everything,that didnt mean Kishibe knew he could,he only kept persisting,he's still not sure why Makima decided to put him in the same roof as the guy who had no regerts attempting to beat up a child,but oh well,Ren can just web him up again
"You hungry,kid?" Kishibe asks Ren as he sits on the couch of the living room,turning on the TV by pressing the red button on the remote
"No thanks,I ate before I got here"
"What about me,huh? Aren't you going to ask me if I'm hungry?" Venom pops his head out,glaring at the old hunter,"where's the food,old man?"
"Its in the fridge..." Kishibe sighs,as soon as Venom started moving Ren's body on its own,moving him towards the fridge,"W-What the...how are you doing that?" Ren is panicking to say the least,his body Is moving on its own,against his will,"we don't have all day,human,cmon!" Venom continues to move Ren's body,once Ren stops in front of the fridge,Venom opens the door with his tendrils,his eyes scanning over the fridge,not a whole lot is in there,"Grrrr....your fridge is almost empty,old human!" Venom growls I'm disappointment,but then,he spots a pack of breakfast sausages,he grabs them with his tendrils,ripping the plastic wrapping open and eating all the sausages whole,"mmm...you humans know how to eat!" Venom grins,throwing the empty pack away without any regard for cleanliness,"hmmm...what else do you have?" Venom spots an open carton of milk,his tendrils grab the carton and pours the contents down his mouth,"Hmm...a beverage of sorts,not bad" he throws the now empty carton away as well,"where is the chocolate? I need chocolate!" Venom demands,searching the fridge for any chocolate,only to notice a half eaten chocolate bar inside the fridge,"AHA!" His tendrils reach for the chocolate bar,devouring the rest of it,"hm...is that it? Not good enough!" Venom pouts,his head moving towards Kishibe,glaring at him,"old man,we require more chocolate!"Venom points at Kishibe with his tendrils,"there isn't any left,buddy"
"NONSENSE,I DEMAND MORE CHOCOLATE,WHERE IS IT?" Venom yells,he was up in Kishibe's face,but Ren pulled them by the black strings connecting him to his body,"GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF ME,BOY!" Venom says to Ren as he's being pulled back to him,"cmon,man...he's been kind enough to let us in and eat from his fridge,you can't keep placing demands on him!" Ren says as he struggles to pull Venon towards him,"let's go grocery shopping,kid,i need stuff for the place,anyway" Kishibe reluctantly turns the TV off,standing up with a groan
"Uh...you don't have to,really..." Ren mutters with a bit of a guilty tone,not wanting to burden the old man or anything
"Dont worry,Makima gave me some money"
"Uhh...okay,if you say so..." Ren rubs his neck as he watches Kishibe stand up
"What is...grocery shopping?" Venom asks curiously
"Its where you go to the store to buy things" Kishibe answer
"Store? What is...a store?"
"Its where they sell all kinds of things...like chocolate"
"Really? Then let's go grocery shopping now!"

Makima stood in front of a bunch of old men who were seated together,the shadow obscuring their faces as Makima looked at them with that cold smile of hers,the brass were no joke,they overlooked everything regarding public safety and its divisions,it all comes back to them in the end,not a single thing escapes their sight,however,Makima stood unshaken,not even the least bit intimidated
"Makima...any news on the Parasite Devil?" One of them asks,wasting no time in cutting to the chase
"The Parasite Devil has been captured,and is willing to stay under our surveillance,the Parasite Devil has now gained consciousness and now likes to refer to itself as 'Venom',it has agreed to work for public safety as long as we constantly provide food for it"
"Food?" One of the old men asks,an irritated look on his face,"and you're just going to give up as many people to it so long as it keeps working for you? You could at least give it death row inmates"
"Oh,the Parasite Devil is actually fine with not eating humans anymore" Makima responds,causing the higher-ups to be taken aback in surprise,"what do you mean?"
"The Parasite Devil has taken an interest In the same foods human eat,especially chocolate,it claims it tastes exactly the same as human brains,and believes it's more than a good enough alternative"
"Hm...all the better,and what about the host?"
"The host is a 14 year old orphan by the name of Shinoda Ren,he was the same boy involved in the spider devil incident,according to the boy,he was trying to save a friend's cat that was about to be offered to the spider devil by a staff member of the orphanage,the boy had stepped in only to be impaled in the eye sockets by the devil,the Parasite Devil just so happened to be there,attaching to the boy and turning him into the host,the Parasite Devil then ate the Spider Devil and the woman aswell,however...it saved the cat,bringing it back where it came from,the Parasite Devil assumed it must have to do with the host's connection with the cat"
"Really? And what about the host? Any signs of the Parasite Devil eating away at him yet?"
"Surprisingly not,the Parasite Devil showed no interest In consuming the boy,it claims that the boy Is far too small for it to consider him a meal,the devil also claimed it wants a host that will last,so it decided to keep the boy alive for the time being,the Devil had no physical effects on the boys body,however,it's safe to assume that the Parasite Devil gave Shinoda a new pair of eyes after losing his original ones,which means the Parasite Devil can not only heal itself,but it's host aswell"
"Hmmm...how interesting,where is the host being kept?"
"With Kishibe,he'll be in good hands"

"Hm...buy this...and this...and this one too!" Venom was controlling Ren's hands,making him put all kinds of things in Kishibe's shopping cart,"o-oi,that's enough!" Ren whispers to Venom,"you're taking advantage of the man!"
"And? He's the one offering" Venom says in Ren's head,Venom spots a carton of milk as he looks through Ren's eyes,"OH,this thing,the liquid inside it is very tasty!" Venom makes Ren reach for the carton,putting it in Kishibes cart while he watches,"cmon...you can't keep buying things!" Ren scolds Venom as he keeps moving his body
"What about you,kid? Don't you want anything?" Kishibe asks Ren,he didn't take anything for himself,Venom was the one picking and choosing everything,"erm...I'm good,thanks"
"Huh? You sure?"
"Uh...yeah!" Ren nods
"Whatever,that means i can keep the money to myself" Kishibe rolls his eyes before pushing the shopping cart around,Ren follows after him
"Oh well...he can keep the money,its the least I can do for him,he probably hates me after what I did back in the graveyard,I don't want to put more on his plate already,he's already having to struggle with being a devil hunter" Ren thinks to him,"Man...i kind of wish the spider devil ate me that day,I wouldn't have had to bother this guy,or even Makima-San,she shouldn't have to spend all this money on me,great...I went from being the orphanage's burden to public safety's burden,they could have...i don't know,spent that money on something more valuable,something to help protect humans from devils or something...but Makima-San,she said Venom and I have potential,maybe...just maybe,i can prove I'm not useless!" Ren smiles a little as he thinks about all of this,the boy never had the best self esteem,but considering what he did back in that graveyard,maybe he's alot more capable than he thought? He'll have to try his best if he wants to prove he's not useless to Kishibe,while also wanting to make Makima proud,after all,she's putting alot of faith (and money) in him...
Author's note:first of all,I'd like to thank the person who voted on my last 3 chapters,it means alot and it'll do wonders to boost the story and get it out there,if you enjoyed my story,please do vote on it,it helps alot,this chapter is a little shorter than the rest,i might be taking my time building everything up,but part 1 of chainsaw man is quite short,and it might be even shorter once Ren and Venom enter the scene,so please be patient,because things might start picking up next chapter,also,Wattpad's algorithm is heavily dependent on the story having as many chapters as possible,because more chapters=more total reads.
As far as the schedule goes,the writing process has been going very smoothly so far,if things keep going at this rate,i might keep uploading daily
