Mingyu spotted his parents walking down the hall and he fixed his suit again before facing them. They were dressed in luxury outfits as usual.
"Telling us what darling?" He heard his mother ask as they came closer but this was not the time. He wanted to tell them during the dinner.
"Nothing, good evening mother, father." Mingyu bowed and he noticed Wonwoo bow as well. "How many times have we begged you to call us mum and dad Mingyu?" His dad questioned and his mother chuckled.
"Probably a hundred times by now." She joked and everyone laughed including Wonwoo whose laugh sounded so forced, it almost made Mingyu laugh as well.
"Well, let's get to the dining room." Mingyu's mother suggested as she began to walk to the dining room with her husband by her side. Mingyu stood frozen. No hug, no how have you been, nothing?
Did they really care about him? They didn't even ask about Wonwoo who they've literally never seen before!
"Gyu." He heard Wonwoo call and he broke out of his thoughts, turning to his love. "Hmm?" He put on a fake smile.
"Let's go." Wonwoo smiled back before walking ahead of him. They couldn't hold hands yet since Mingyu's parents didn't know.
The couple got to the dining room which was just as large as Mingyu remembered but today it seemed smaller. Probably because he wasn't a 6 year old eating a full dinner alone anymore.
Mingyu's father sat at the head of the table with Mingyu's mother sitting on his right, leaving Mingyu to seat on his left and Wonwoo to sit beside him.
"So, before they bring out the food, I'm very confused and I'm sure your mother is too." Mingyu's father sat up, straightening his suit.
"Who is he?" The question rang through Mingyu's ears and he looked at Wonwoo. Oh, now they were curious.
"His name is Wonwoo." Mingyu replied as Wonwoo bowed again. "And I needed him here." Mingyu's hands wrapped around Wonwoo's under the tablecloth.
"Why? Your mum and I aren't good enough?" His father questioned and Mingyu nodded. "You haven't really been good enough these past years."
The audio in the room went silent, with Mingyu's grip on Wonwoo's hand tightening and Mingyu's father's fists balling.
Mingyu glanced at his mother who was too busy looking at her nails to even be bothered with the conversation.
"So, how's university going, engineering right?" Mingyu's father tried to start up another conversation. Mingyu closed his eyes and opened them again.
This had to be a dream. Did his father just ask him if he was doing engineering? When they were there to literally drop Mingyu off at his dorm and tour his lecture halls?
"What?" Mingyu uttered, wanting to make sure he heard his father clearly. "He's doing Literature in English, sir." Wonwoo corrected before Mingyu could say anything.
"Oh! That's right! You and your books all the time." His father remarked but his tone let Mingyu know he still didn't approve of his course.
That didn't matter to Mingyu because the only thing that kept him company when he was younger were books, until he met Minghao and Seokmin.
"How's your brother?" His mother finally said something but it shocked Mingyu even more. "You guys were just in the US, did you not see him?" Mingyu questioned and he noticed his parents eyes look elsewhere.
"We used our free time to tour some galleries." His mother murmured. "Did you even contact him?" Mingyu asked, shocked.
"Well, he's preparing to take over so..."
As Mingyu was about to retort, the doors to the dining opened and food lined up on trays came in. "Isn't this a bit much for four people?" Wonwoo whispered and Mingyu sighed.
"Definitely." He replied and Wonwoo giggled before sitting straight.
"Let's begin, shall we?" Mingyu's mum picked up her fork and knife and everyone else followed.

Wonwoo took his last bite of the pasta. It had been about 30 minutes and no one had talked about anything. This dinner was quite... boring.
Mingyu was visibly uncomfortable or maybe he was just pissed off but he had started his angry eating because he was on his 3rd plate already.
"So Wonbin-ssi." Wonwoo got distracted by the voice. "It's Wonwoo." Mingyu corrected his father before returning to his food.
"What's your course?" Mingyu's father asked, not bothering to take the correction which made Mingyu roll his eyes. Wonwoo didn't mind. They could call him anything as long as it meant they didn't despise him.
"Oh, I'm a theatre arts major." Wonwoo replied and the father nodded. "What year?"
"3rd year, sir." Wonwoo answered and he saw Mingyu's father smirk a little. Had he perhaps gotten on his good side?
"Oh really, so you're... older than Mingyu?" His mother entered in and Wonwoo nodded. "With a year." He replied before hearing Mingyu murmur.
"8 to 9 months." Wonwoo rolled his eyes at Mingyu's comment and Mingyu chuckled. At least he was smiling.
"How did you two meet? You must be very good friends for Mingyu to bring you to us. Last time it was the Chinese boy." Mingyu's father informed Wonwoo. The Chinese boy? What a weird way to refer to someone.
"His name is Minghao and he's not just a Chinese boy, he's my best friend." Wonwoo could sense Mingyu getting angrier and he held the boy's hand again in an attempt to calm him down.
"We met... through some mutual friends." Wonwoo replied, almost laughing as he remembered how they truly met.
"Oh, nice to know he has more friends now, he was a bit of a loner when he was younger." Mingyu's mother feigned concern and Wonwoo looked at Mingyu whose hand started to shake a bit.
He was basically reaching his limit and Wonwoo was too.
He needed to pee badly.
"Excuse me, where's your restroom?" Wonwoo asked and Mingyu's father pointed to a man in a black suit, different from Jiseok.
"He'll take you." He gave the man a sign and Wonwoo stood up, leaving the dining room with the man. He was a bit worried though. He hoped Mingyu wouldn't blow up soon.
