Chapter Six

Something doesn't feel right

Siobhan POV

We get into my car, and we get ready to head home as I'm pulling out of the car park, I notice a black range rover behind me, it's driving a bit too close to us, I try and look at the driver I can't make out who it is, I stay calm, I feel Viv grip my thigh she has noticed the range rover too, she gets her phone out ready to film, I start to slow down, the range rover goes past and Viv films it. I still can't make out the people in it, I could only see outline of a person, that outline looked familiar, it looked a lot like Roger, my Ex, he can't be out of prison we should have been notified.

I pull into the driveway, we share it with Reece and Marjorie, we live in detached houses we got rid of the wall that divided the front and back gardens, so the two houses were surrounded by one wall, and we fitted an electric gate, we felt safer due to what happened with Reece's father, as the time I met Viv my relationship with him was an abusive controlling and coercive one and on more than one occasion he was sexually and physically attacked me, he was arrested for tax evasion, and jailed for 20 years. I never told Viv everything that happened to me, I think she had an idea, we just never spoke about it. I parked the car, I asked Viv to take the twins into the house, I went to speak to Reece.

When I entered his house, I could hear laughing and joking I called out for Reece, he walked out of the kitchen, "Hey Bon, what's up, is Viv allowed out to play tonight?" he joked

"I think Roger is out of prison" I replied

"What?"

"As I was driving back with the twins and Viv, I noticed a black range rover following us, the windows were blacked out, but I caught a glimpse of the person in the back seat as the window was open just enough for me to see the side of the person's face, it looked like Roger"

"Okay, I will ring the solicitor see what's happened as we should have been notified if he had been released, try not to worry, I will sort out security for us all"

"Okay, thank you." I go to leave

"Oh, Viv is allowed to play out tonight, but please don't get her drunk, I will be waiting for her naked in bed" I walk away leaving Reece looking shocked and going bright red

I walk into the house; the twins have gone up to their rooms, I shout up "Can you make sure you have done all your homework, I will be coming up there to check in about 10 minutes"

The twins replied "OKAY"

I walked into the kitchen Viv was making a coffee for us, I wrapped my arms around her and started crying.

"Hey what's wrong?" she asked

"The range rover following us before, I think Roger was in the back, I think he's out of prison?" I reply

"He can't be, we would have been notified, if he was up for parole, wouldn't we?"

"I would have thought so, Reece is going to speak to the solicitor today, see what's happened"

We cuddle for a bit longer before we are disturbed by someone knocking at the door, we go to open the door, standing there are 2 police officers, Reece and Marjorie.

"Can we come in my love?" asks Marjorie

"Of course, we go through to the living room, and we sit down "Can I get anyone a drink I ask?"

"No thanks"

One of the police officers speaks "Mrs. Serpent I'm Detective Sergent Tyler she shows' me her I.D, I have some news regarding your Ex-partner Roger Knight. He escaped from prison on Friday night"

"What, how?" I feel Viv wrap her arm around me I start to tense up

"Don't you know, he had been moved to an open prison a few months ago, as he had met all conditions of his sentence, and he was working towards early release, but it seems he had been planning this all along, he escaped on Friday as he had been on day release in the local area to the prison, seems he still has someone helping on the outside"

"Are we in danger?" asked Viv

"The prison officers and I searched his cell we found evidence of his plan; it seems he is coming after you, your wife and his son Reece. He blames you three for his downfall and embarrassment, we will put a regular police patrol in the area, we are searching for him, but so far, we haven't had any sightings of him"

"I think I saw him earlier; we were heading home after shopping with our children, as I was driving us home, I noticed a black range rover following us"

"Did you manage to get a license number?"

"No" I replied

"I got a video of it, as you slowed down and it went past," said Viv

She went to get her phone, "Detective I will speak with my head of security Mia Roberts she is the person to contact if you need any assistance, she can organize security details if needed," said Reece

"Okay, can you let us know their details, so we know who they are?"

"Of course," Reece got his phone and rang Mia, as she delt with security

Viv walked back into the living room and showed Detective Tyler the video "Can you email it over I will get our techs to look at it. We will get him"

"Okay, thank you detective" Viv replied then she showed the detectives to the door

I walked back into the kitchen, I took the bottle of Tequila out of the cupboard and 4 shot glasses, Reece, Marjorie and Viv walked in "I don't know about you three, but I need a drink." I downed two shots of Tequila before bursting into tears

I could feel myself starting to panic, I was overthinking I hadn't felt like this in years. Viv went to touch my arm, I pushed her away I could see the hurt in her eyes, I poured myself another shot and walked into the back garden. I stood by the pool.

I was aware of Reece standing next to me, he knocked a shot of tequila back and threw the shot glass, it smashed against the side of the pool house. He turned and looked at me.

"Siobhan don't push us away, Viv is crying into Marjorie's shoulder, this is what my fucking father wants, us to be fighting between us and not supporting each other. He isn't in control; he hasn't been in control for the last 15 years. If we show any sign of weakness he will pounce, we have kids to think about and protect, we need you to be strong, Mia is on her way over she is fuming as we should have been told about him being moved to an open prison, she has already rang the solicitor to see what has gone on"

I fell into his arms and sobbed "Why now? Who is helping him?"

"I have an idea who could be helping him, I'm going to find out I will talk to Mia"

"Are you okay to come back inside" he asked

"Just give me a couple of minutes"

Reece headed back inside; I stood by the side of the pool looking at the water, I felt arms wrap around me and the familiar smell of my wife's perfume. I turned around and looked in her eye's "I'm so sorry I pushed you away, I didn't mean too I was lashing out"

"Baby don't worry, we will get through this, we aren't alone, the twins will be wondering what's going on, we need to head back inside, plus can I still go to the pub tonight?"

She gives me her puppy dog eyes I kiss her then say "You can go the pub, but as I said to Reece earlier, don't be getting drunk I will be waiting for you naked in bed"

"You said that to Reece? No wonder he blushed when he walked into the house before"

We head back into the house, Reece and Marjorie go to their house, I go and check on the twins, they have done their homework they have got their school uniforms ready and are watching tv "I will go and make supper what would you like to eat?" I ask them

"Can we have your Carbonara and garlic bread?"

"Of course, I will call you when it's ready"
