Chapter 4

Alexis woke feeling better than she had in months, she sat down at her mirror and decided to put on makeup and style her hair. She pulled out her black khol and plum eyeshadow making her green eyes as vibrant as possible. Black lip stain because she was going for shock and awe. Then she did her hair in two long fishtail braids. She put on her robes and floated downstairs. She found her boys waiting at a nearby table and smiled as every jaw dropped.

Draco sat across the room staring at her as she walked over to her new group of friends. He couldn't help but wonder why she looked nothing like any of the Black family he had met. He still felt the same pull to her as he had on that first day when he had tried to make friends with her. But she refused him and embarrassed him in front of everyone in their year. He wanted to stay away from her but some invisible force seemed to always drag him back.

"Good morning boys," Alexis said as she slid into a chair between Theo and Enzo.

"Bloody hell, who are you and what did you do to Alexis?" Theo asked eyes still the size of saucers.

"My dad gave me some advice and I intend to follow it."

"Your dad suggested this?" Enzo questioned gesturing to her new look.

She laughed, "No he told me it was time to stop living in the shadows and shine like he knows I can."

She looked at Mattheo who was still speechless. She smiled leaning across Theo and gently closed his mouth that was still hanging open.

"You're going to catch flies if you're not careful. I'm hungry, are we going to breakfast?"

The boys agreed in unison as they tripped over themselves to follow her out of the common room. They fell into step right beside her Mattheo and Theo on her right and left and Enzo to Mattheo's right. She walked with a confidence she had never felt before.

Draco sat watching as Alexis walked out, why did he feel jealous that she had chosen them over him? He had tried a few times over the years but she had always been glued to Harry and then Weasley and now Riddle. He couldn't understand why hanging out with him was so repugnant a choice. Did she not feel the same pull to him that he felt for her? He felt his frustration build storming off angrily not interested in going to breakfast anymore.

The four Slytherins entered the great hall and the volume died down, those who were there early stared as Alexis smiled coyly. The boys winked as they followed her to the table. As they sat the whispers shot up all around them. She smiled at her new companions but Enzo pointed to the Gryffindor table. The Golden Trio and the Weasley twins were watching her. She smiled and winked before going back to grabbing food.

"You planning to talk to them today?" Enzo asked.

"We'll see, but I think they need a few days to understand I'm not their step stool. Besides, I like you guys, I'm not a spare wheel to you."

They laughed as they started eating. Alexis glanced back to George one last time before she set herself to be who she wanted to be. He was looking right at her unblinking, she looked away unable to stand his stare. But she wasn't going to be the shy time girl anymore. Every time she felt eyes on her she would meet their gaze until the person looked away from her.

They had a full morning of Charms and Transfiguration, then an afternoon of Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology and the group headed out to their first class and sat in their new group.

"Your friends are staring princess. Oh and by the way, if it wasn't obvious before, I'm a huge fan of the new look," he ran his hand down her braid, fingertips brushing her shoulder.
