Chapter 5

At breakfast, Mattheo split off from the rest of the group sneaking over to the Gryffindor table. It had been weeks since his fight with George but he could still feel the glares that followed him. He paused before saying Georges's name. George and Fred turned to look at him.

"You better have a bloody good reason for being over here," Fred spat angrily at Slytherin. And the glares from the rest of the group sitting there made it clear they all felt the same.

"Look I'm, you know I'm, sorry for what I did. I lost it and Alexis put me in my place." he told them absentmindedly rubbing his cheek. "She almost knocked me out for what I did. But I had an idea for a way to get back at that pink toad and wondered if you might be interested in being involved in a bit of revenge... against her," Mattheo struggled to get through the speech he'd been practicing.

Fred and George looked at each other in a silent conversation. Before both nodding, "We might be," Fred said and George finished, "What did you have in mind?"

Alexis ate with Theo and Enzo after Mattheo had disappeared on them. Enzo and Alex were teasing Theo about his girl of the week when he came strutting up with a mischievous glint in his eyes. He sat down with a grin and began eating without a word on where he'd been. He just joined in mocking Theo about his new girl.

It was Monday again so it was going to be a long day. Mattheo and Alexis sat down in potions together to brew today's potion. It wasn't a difficult one, at least not for the two of them. The ease of the task meant that they were free to talk more than usual.

"Where'd you sneak off to this morning," she asked as they added ingredients one by one. She didn't look at him because she already knew the smirk he was undoubtedly flashing her right now.

Mattheo moved closer whispering right into her ear. He knew it would cause shivers to run down her, feeling his breath tickle her face and neck, "Why, you afraid I was running off for a secret meeting with another girl?"

She shivered at his words just as he knew she would, she rolled her eyes at his ridiculous statement. She knew he hadn't looked in another girl's direction since their kiss in the courtyard. "Seriously, where did you go?"

He smiled at her, "I just had to talk to someone about a joint venture. Don't worry your pretty head about it, princess," he turned back to his potion but made sure to brush his hand across her hip as he turned.

She kicked him in the ankle, he was so infuriating and that was the only thing she could get away with since Snape always kept a close eye on the two of them. How did he always know how to get to her? "Fine, keep your secrets then Riddle."

The class finished and they headed to lunch. Mattheo disappeared again but for a much shorter time. The Slytherin table was filled with excited whispers when he got back. "What did I miss?"

Theo leaned over making sure to keep his voice down, "The 7th years are throwing a party in rebellion against the toad's decree of no unapproved student gatherings. And everyone in 5th year and up are invited."

"Leave it to us to protest with a party," Alex said with a twinkle in her eyes. They all laughed as they finished lunch and headed to Divination.

The toad made her usual appearance in Trelawney's class and Alex sat seething as she embarrassed her favorite professor. Her last comments almost brought Alexis out of her seat but Mattheo put a hand on her thigh.

He was attempting to calm her but also hold her in her seat if needed. She was seated between him and Theo and they were both prepared to keep her from doing something stupid.
