Chapter 38

Saturday morning Alexis woke just before sunrise. As the sun came up she touched her wand to her heart and whispered, "Amato, Animo, Animato Animagus." Draco was still snoring away.

While Draco was still sleeping she headed to the showers. She stood in the shower trying to figure out a plan. She had thought of bringing the necklace back through the shrieking shack but McGonagall had told her they had alarms set in that tunnel. She knew what had to be done but she also had seen how it would turn out. The necklace wouldn't make it to Dumbledore but it wasn't supposed to.

She had seen Dumbledore's death and I didn't come from a cursed object. He had to fall from the Astronomy Tower, so it didn't matter if the Gryffindor girl got it back or not. The Dark Lord would see Draco was trying and maybe that would keep him satisfied for now.

Alexis finished up and headed back to her room to find Draco throwing on his clothes, "Where were you? You had me scared to death you'd wandered off again. You can't just disappear on me, darling." He rushed over wrapping her in a tight embrace

"Sorry, I forgot. I just needed a quick shower before I head to Hogsmeade today. It's fine, nothing happened." She was feeling very nervous about what needed to be done. There were so many things she needed to make sure happened this year. For Voldemort to lose she had to make sure Draco didn't fail. Dumbledore had to fall from that tower, he had to die.

"You have to be more careful love, we just want to keep you safe. Your life is important, you can't screw with your life. Too many people are counting on us," Draco felt truly worried for her. He didn't trust Mattheo, Draco was sure he was just biding his time until he saw an opening to run off with her back to the Dark Lord.

"Okay, I will try harder, I'm sorry I worried you. Nothing happened, it was just a shower. Come on let's get to breakfast before I leave for Hogsmeade and your detention," She grabbed her bag and waited as he finished getting ready.

The couple walked out into the common room and found their friends waiting for them, "You guys ready for a little candy shopping today?" Alexis grinned as the boys nodded eagerly. The group headed to breakfast and ate as quickly as possible so they could head out as soon as they could.

As the four students left the Great Hall Alexis pulled Draco off to the side, "You're sure they will be in the alley behind the Three Broomsticks at eleven right?"

"I'm sure, please be careful. This once you can trust them but never again," Draco pulled her in and kissed her before they parted ways.

All of the students were searched by Filch before being allowed to leave the castle. He was a bit aggressive about it but finally, they all got to head out down the path to the village.

The boys charged excitedly about the different candies they were going to get to help them make it through the next month. Alexis smiled and laughed but her mind was on the task she had before her. She watched the time nervously needing to make sure everything played out the way it was supposed to.

The group entered Honeyduke's and she mulled around looking at a few things but for the first time, she was completely uninterested in buying any sweets. She did end up buying enough candy for Draco and a few things for herself to keep the boys from being suspicious.

By the time they finished buying their sweets time was getting close for Alexis to get the necklace, "Hey I could use some butter beer, you guys want to head over to the Three Broomsticks?"

Theo and Enzo eagerly agreed and linked arms with her as they headed off. Alexis found a table where they could see the door but not the bathrooms. She watched nervously as the minutes ticked by until it was time.
