Fate Starts to be Overwhelming

Chapter 11

The next morning Lupin and Tonks arrived to get all of them back to Hogwarts. They would be taking the Knight Bus and Alexis was not looking forward to the trip after Harry described his first trip. Alexis and Mattheo were getting dressed putting the last of their things into their trunks before heading down for breakfast.

"It's going to be fine, it isn't that bad. A bit weird but not bad, I promise," Mattheo told her as he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. Alexis nodded hesitantly still feeling nervous. He kissed her shoulder trying to distract her from her concerns. The shivers that went down her body told him he was succeeding at least in part. As she turned in his arms to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck, she couldn't help but smile. She kissed him softly, the feel of his lips making her melt.

They heard the voices of the others talking as they headed downstairs and begrudgingly headed down with everyone else. As they opened the door, whatever whispered conversation the adults had stopped abruptly. Alexis walked by Sirius kissing him on the cheek before leading Mattheo to the seats by Lupin. They ate quickly and headed out to throw on coats, scarves, and hats to brave the chilly London morning. She caught a glimpse of Siuris sneaking something to Harry. They all said their last goodbyes to their parents before heading to the curb.

Tonks and Lupin looked at each other before Lupin flung out his right arm. There was a loud bang as a purple triple-decker bus popped out of thin air. It came to a crashing halt in front of them, almost hitting the lamppost beside them.  Alexis' eyes went wide with terror as Tonks started hurrying them onto the bus. Mattheo felt her shaking in fear and wrapped his arm around her waist protectively.

As they walked in she saw mismatched chairs all around by the windows. They weren't attached to anything and many had fallen over along with the witches and wizards who had been sitting in them. Tonks and Remus split them up, at first trying to keep Mattheo down with Tonks and the Weasleys and sending Alexis up with Lupin and the golden trio but Mattheo glared at them as Alexis gripped him in panic.

Alexis and Mattheo both headed up with Lupin. Instead of sitting Mattheo held on to one of the hanging bars and motioned for Alexis to do the same before holding onto her tightly. As the bus started forward he put one foot back ready to brace them both. With another deafening bang, the bus shot forward causing almost everyone else to be flung backward. However, Mattheo's strong grip held them both to a small bit of sliding.

Ron toppled backward causing his owl to fly off in search of a safer perch on Hermione. Harry barely managed to grab a candle holder in time to keep himself from hitting the floor. Mattheo grinned kissing her cheek as the bus continued flying down the roads. A loud band rang out from time to time as the bus continually changed directions. They only stopped one time for an elderly woman who looked very green as she got off.

The next thing they saw was the bus rolling through Hogsmeade. The bus came to a stop right outside of Hogwart's front gates. Lupin and Tonks helped them off the bus along with their luggage. While saying their goodbyes Lupin stopped at Alexis and Mattheo, "Take care of each other, things are going to get much worse. Be safe." He moved on saying something to Harry off to the side before he and Tonks were back on the bus. They all turned carrying their things through the gates, as a loud boom sounded and the Knight Bus was gone.

Draco sat waiting, knowing he had to keep an eye on the Dark Lord's son. You-Know-Who hadn't given him a choice, he threatened his mother. It didn't take long to see the group come up the hill. His frustration exploded as he saw Mattheo come into view with his arm firmly around Alexis' waist. He watched closely, following along at a distance, looking for any news he could send back to the Dark Lord.
