Chapter 37
Alexis found the boys in the courtyard trying to enjoy smoking but the bitter mandrake leaf was clearly souring their experience. Draco walked over entwining his fingers through hers, "Everything good? You found everything you needed?"
"Yeah we got everything set now it's just a waiting game," Alexis smiled as she leaned into him. "So how's the first few hours going with the leaf?"
"Awful! It's awful, how did you do this for a month? I've only been at it a few hours and I'm ready to give up," Theo pretended to faint with as much dramatic flair as possible getting a laugh out of all his friends.
"You honestly want to know?" She looked at them with one eyebrow raised. The boys all nodded furiously, "Candy, I almost always had a peice of candy in my mouth. It was just enough to keep the bitterness at bay."
"Wait isn't this weekend the first Hogsmeade trip? I think a trip to Honeydukes is in our future," Draco told them as he smiled at his friends.
"And he didn't even need to have a vision to know that," Enzo elbowed Alexis grinning ear to ear.
"I don't know he did get my gift for seeing the future, that was a pretty out-there prediction," Alexis did her best to hold a serious look but slowly it cracked and she began to laugh. She and Enzo started leaning on each other as they laughed so hard they could barely stay upright.
Draco gave her a sideglance, "Haha, you think you're funny, don't you?"
Alexis and Enzo looked at each other and nodded, "I mean yeah I think I'm hilarious."
Before she even realized what was happening Draco had rushed over and lifted her in the air. He started spinning in circles until they were both so dizzy the world kept spinning even when they had stopped.
As they fell over Draco asked, "Still think you're funny?" They just lay there laughing together as Theo and Enzo shook their heads at them.
Once they had all settled down they sat in a circle on the cold damp grass, "Okay princess, you want to tell us now why you missed classes for the first time in your life?"
Alexis looked down picking at some lint on her uniform, "I umm, I'm not sure how to explain really. I had another vision of the past but this time I didn't come back to myself where I started. I came out of the vision down in the forest next to the lake, right where I was in the vision when it ended. I watched them during their transformation and it was amazing. I wish you guys could have seen it, I can't explain why but I'm not afraid of it anymore."
Draco kissed her hand, "That's great, I know you were getting really nervous about all of this. It's interesting that your visions of the past seem to relate to a problem or a state of mind you're in though. But this could be a big problem. You are going places without realizing it! What if the next time you walk out of school grounds and straight into the arms of a death eater?" Draco looked truly concerned for her safety.
"He's right Alex this is a bit of a problematic development. One of us should probably be with you at all times to make sure you don't just wander off into a dangerous situation," Theo knew Alex probably wouldn't like it but it's not like they knew when she was going to have one of these visions.
Alexis raised an eyebrow at her friends, "So who's going to be following me into the bathroom?"
"I'm sure waiting outside the door will be fine for that but I'm more than happy to make sure you're safe if you need to take a shower," Draco gave her a cheeky grin and wiggled his eyebrows at her.
Alexis blushed brightly hiding her face behind a curtain of hair, "Draco and I have something we need to take care of and I have hallway patrol tonight so you two should head back to the dorm before curfew."
