Chapter 35
The group explored for about an hour before they started back to the castle. Lunchtime wasn't far off so the group hung out in the courtyard while they waited. The boys all stood around talking while Alexis lay out on a bench trying to enjoy the warm sunny weather.
While she was enjoying listening to the boys argue about Quidditch tryouts and the Slytherin team's chances of getting the cup that year she heard a familiar voice, "Hey Lex?"
She sat up seeing her brother, Ron, and Hermione a few feet away, "What do you need Harry, I'm busy."
Harry gave Draco a side glance before responding, "Yes I can see that but Professor McGonagall wants to see you and your friends in her office. Right away."
The group of Slytherin's had matching looks of confusion as they looked at each other. Draco held out a hand and helped Alexis up off the bench.
"Did she happen to tell you why?" She asked as she straightened her clothes.
Harry shook his head, "No but she ugh, didn't seem happy."
The group headed off the McGonagall's office quietly as they all tried to think of why she would want to see them. Draco had his arm firmly wrapped around her waist as they entered the professor's office.
"All of you sit," She paced back and forth as the four of them took a seat in front her her. "Do you have any idea how irresponsible your actions were this morning? Did you honestly think that tunnel doesn't have charms set to alert us when it's used in the current circumstances? And who do I find when I go to check? You four and to make matters worse, a secret that was not supposed to be told, to anyone, was shared!" She stopped in front of Alexis and Enzo giving them a long hard look.
"Now we have to decide how to handle this very serious situation. I've discussed the matter with Dumbledore and Professor Snape and we have agreed on what will happen moving forward. Today you will all be taking the unbreakable vow, and in three weeks the rest of you will begin the same process Alexis has started," Draco and Theo looked confused as Alexis and Enzo looked down at the floor guiltily.
"Can someone please explain what exactly is going on?" Draco asked looking between the professor, his girlfriend, and his new friends.
Alexis looked up meeting his eyes, "Enzo guessed correctly what spell I'm learning at the shrieking shack. I confirmed he was right, which broke my agreement to keep the spell a secret."
"Right but since we are all now in the same boat, would someone please tell me what spell and why it's so bad that Enzo figured it out?" Theo asked feeling frustrated at being left in the dark.
"You will all be learning the process of becoming an Animagus. If you all have the same secret it's easier to keep. I expect to see you all next Saturday, I will have certain supplies ready for each of you. Now all of you stand up and I will position your hands for the unbreakable vow," McGonagall motioned for them all the stand.
Once she was happy with how they were standing she placed each person's hand in an intricate hold so all four hands were touching. McGonagall held her wand out and began the spell a thin wire of fire coiled itself around each of their arms.
"Do you vow to keep the reason for your private lessons a secret from anyone who does not already know?"
"I do," they all echoed in unison.
"Do you vow to never tell anyone of Alexis's ability or the shape in which it takes form?"
"I do," they repeated.
"Do you vow to protect this secret from anyone who means to harm any of you?"
"I do," they all watched as the cord brightened and sank into their skin leaving a thin scar across each of their hands and arms.
