The battle was unlike anything Florence had ever seen. Andre moved with the speed and precision of a warrior, his blade cutting through the creatures with ease, while Johmarrian summoned powerful bursts of magic that crackled through the air like lightning.
Florence, however, was frozen in place, his heart hammering in his chest. He could feel the pull of the book in his hands, but he didn't know how to use it. He wasn't like Andre or Johmarrian—he wasn't a fighter.
One of the creatures lunged at him, its glowing eyes locked onto his, but before it could strike, a flash of light erupted from the book, throwing the creature back.
Florence gasped, staring down at the book in shock. The spiral symbol on its cover was glowing brightly, pulsing in time with the hum in the air.
The one marked by fate will bring the storm.
The words echoed in his mind, louder than ever before.
Suddenly, everything around him seemed to slow. The world dimmed, and for a moment, Florence saw something—a vision. The earth beneath him was splitting open, the sky filled with dark clouds, and from the heart of Astoria, a great storm was rising, consuming everything in its path.
And at the center of it all... was him.
Florence stumbled back, his breath coming in shallow gasps. The vision faded, and the battle returned in full force, but the image of the storm lingered in his mind.
"What the hell was that?" Florence whispered to himself, his hands trembling.
"Florence!" Andre's voice cut through the chaos, drawing his attention. "We need to go, now!"
Johmarrian blasted another creature with a burst of magic, his eyes flashing with urgency. "They're not going to stop coming. We need to fall back!"
As the three of them fought their way through the swarm of creatures, Florence couldn't shake the vision he had seen—the storm, the destruction, the feeling that his very presence was tied to the fate of Astoria.
They ran through the forest, the creatures in pursuit, but Florence's mind was elsewhere. The vision had shaken him to his core. He wasn't just a bystander in this—he was the key.
But the key to what?
