The blades that sit steadily under the skater's feet etch the ice carefully, creating a faint outline of an amalgamation of lines and scratches despite him dancing with precision and stability. He squeezes his fists tighter, panting and breathing deeply as he lets himself collapse onto the coolness of the ice, grinning at the boy who laughs and cheers just a few feet across him.

"C'mon Jake - encore!" However, the skater mumbles silently as if gesturing for the boy to come closer to him though his feet are not clad with the right equipment nor the right skill.

Eyeing Jake carefully, Riki leans over the railing and examines the boy's small yet strong silhouette that perfectly reflects the cold and possessive nature of the ice he let engulf him. "You know I can't come in there-"

"Why not?" Jake props himself up on his elbow, leaning his body towards the dark-haired male who becomes flustered at his proposition. "I'll catch you if you fall," he lets the reflection of the ice sparkle across his eyes and for a split second, Riki thought his heart had flickered for a second.

"What if I want to fall?" The younger male's drawls, letting his body drape over the rail, his hair carefully sprawled over his face whilst his finger gains a mind of his own. The tip of his finger runs across the harsh metal as he flutters his eyes shut as if he were indulging in the chill of the rink.

"Why would you wanna do that?" Jake chuckles weakly when he notices that he's the only laughing. Riki looks away as if he were embarrassed or perhaps he was just trying to run away from the situation.

"I just don't know what to do anymore..." he groans, resting his head on the railing which forces Jake to pick himself off the sharp ice and over towards the distressed male.

Setting his hand carefully over Riki's, Jake runs his thumb over his exposed skin. "C'mon, talk to me at least," his soft voice welcomes Riki when he finally let's the older male look into his eyes.

"I don't want to let anyone down, Jake, I just-" Riki bites his lip with an unbeknownst force as he turns his head away violently, "the day is coming faster, and I told myself I would tell him before then but now he's telling me all about what's going to happen if he loses-"

"What's going to happen if he loses?" Jake murmurs softly, running his fingers through Riki's dark hair and thankfully he leans into his touches.

Riki grimaces when their eyes meet again for a split second. "He's gonna lose everything... he won't be able to skate anymore he says." However, when Jake's eyes widen Riki struggles to take back his words. "Apparently the building is going to get shut down or something and Sunghoon says there's no point in continuing after if that happens."

"Yeah, yeah I know that..." Jake whispers carefully and now he's the one lowering his gaze.

Riki purses his lips and scrunches his fist, desperate yet afraid to spill what he's been holding back. "So... so why don't you just throw the competition?" his words burst like a bucket of flames and all Jake can do is stare wide eyed like a deer in headlights.

"W-what?"

"You're practically his only competition," Riki explains further, not quite understanding Jake's reaction. "you're the only thing standing between him and his dreams-"

"I'm sorry, Riki, I can't." Is all Jake can say as his feet slowly push himself away though he holds onto the railing, watching painfully as Riki's eyes dim.

He pulls himself closer to the skater, gripping onto his wrist as if he's noticed the sudden shift in their contact. "Why not, Jake?" he spits, hurt and confused and Jake cringes as he's softened features mould and harden under this thickened pressure.
