"Hey, Sunghoon, wait up!"
Riki struggled to catch up with the older male who didn't seem to be heading anywhere in any particular hurry, but thankfully his long legs made a short yet brisk jog enough to be able to set a weak hand on his shoulder.
Sunghoon finally removes one of his earbuds and raises his eyebrows at the younger male who seems to wear an unreadable expression. "What's up, Riki?" he stares at him, confused when Riki seems similarly frazzled as well.
The skies were clear as they usually were nowadays. The heat was taking fruition in the large city of Seoul and everyone seemed to have a place they were rushing to but under the daunting gaze of the sun, both the streets and the roads slowed their pace to exhaust this newfound sunny weather Riki felt as if he had already melted into the burning cement.
"Uh, um, do you know where Heeseung is?" Riki murmurs as he paces on the balls of his feet, an awkward smile fitting perfectly on his face but all Sunghoon does is shrug.
"Nah, I haven't seen him all day," Sunghoon slips his phone back into his pocket after changing his music though he still holds the single earbud in between his fingers. "Probably couped up with Sam since neither of them has work today - you know how he is sometimes."
Riki chuckles along and nods but he's quick to purse his lips and turn away once the laughter has faded. "I could call him if you want-"
"No, no," Riki practically exclaims, waving his hands around as if he had said something wrong but Sunghoon simply laughs. Perhaps he owed Heeseung some money or was hiding from him, the usual Riki antics. "I just uh, need to tell you guys something but maybe another time."
"What do you wanna tell us?" Sunghoon hums.
"Maybe I should save it for a better time," Riki chuckles awkwardly to himself as he turns on his heels, getting ready to flee from the scene until Sunghoon raises his hand.
"Wait." He quickly murmurs, urging him to walk with him. "Where are you heading?"
"Practice - what about you?" Riki simply states and Sunghoon notices the way his shoulders relax, his voice falling back to his usual nonchalant tone.
"Well, I'm going to the ice rink, I could drop you off since they're not that far," Sunghoon smiles warmly and is obvious Riki wants to say no so the older male presses on with a sincere smile, letting the silence do all the talking for him.
Riki sighs before he nods. "Sure, why not?" His nonchalant tone becomes carefree, another regular for the boy but it seemed as if he were trying to play on this false narrative that everything was completely fine and normal.
"I just wanna say," Sunghoon hums, not even looking in Riki's direction as he waves awkwardly at the person who seems to know him, "I think I already know what you're going to tell me,"
"Huh? What?" Riki is quick to burst with both confusion and panic, but when Sunghoon flings a similarly frazzled look in his direction he realises how wrong this all sounds. "I mean, how would you know from the little I've told you?"
He clears his throat and forces his head higher though his stature is already taller than the skater, but it seems Sunghoon didn't need his extra centimetres to seem reassured.
"Oh, you've told me enough," Sunghoon merely scoffs, lowering his head when he sees the promotional photos and clips of the nationals.
Riki cringes, trying not to scoff. "Really?" he sounds almost coy or perhaps annoyed at Sunghoon's attitude-how would he know?
