"Hey, I didn't think you would show up!" Heeseung murmurs with a hearty grin to the boy that stumbles into his seat at the front of their usual hang out spot, the outside seating of Nineteas Love.
Riki scrunches the back of his hair with his fingers and looks around awkwardly, laughing along with Heeseung who's already ordered the two of them drinks - Riki leaning over to grab the extra cup he had left on the table, noticing that he hadn't bought one for Sunghoon who is also missing from the table.
"I'm here, but where's Sunghoon?" Riki tips his cup to his lips and Heeseung shakes his head as if to tease him.
"He's at practice - he said he messaged you about it but I guess you were too busy sleeping," At that, Riki cringes, remembering the events that had ensued before he lost track of time and remembered he was supposed to grab coffee with the two of them. "Seriously, when you aren't training you need to find a hobby or something to get your lazy ass up in the morning."
"I play football as well and I go to the gym-"
"Alright, alright keep your hair on, kid." Heeseung hushes another one of Riki's 'tantrums' (as he likes to call them) and forces him to take another sip of his decaffeinated drink.
Riki drums his fingers on the outside on his cup, looking around gingerly as he vibes to the song that plays on the inside of the café shop. "Hey, can I ask you about something?" he murmurs weakly, half hoping Heeseung wouldn't hear him and half hoping he would.
"Yeah, sure go ahead," Heeseung hums and smiles warmly, his features and tone soften at his question as if he could read how nervous he was.
Riki looks around again and begins talking when he can no longer see Heeseung in his line of vision, "Uh, it's about Sunghoon," he practically whispers into his hand and he can almost feel Heeseung's brows furrow as confusion ensues, quickly adding onto his sentences as soon as he turns over to examine Heeseung's reaction, "you know, since you two were friends before me and stuff..."
"Oh, yeah?" Heeseung response doesn't give Riki enough substance to work with, but he purses his lips, allowing Heeseung to continue speaking. "What about Sunghoon's 'mysterious past' do you wanna hear about?"
"Well, I know you were surprised like me when you found out about Sunghoon's professional figure skating-"
"Oh, I knew about that," Heeseung breaks down, laughing sweetly when he notices how confused Riki is. "I just went along with it because Sunghoon didn't want you to know about it, that's all."
"Why did he hate it so much in the first place anyways?" Riki suddenly interjects, looking up at the older male, "I mean, why did he quit if he was so good?" he adds on when Heeseung attempts to speak. "He clearly missed is since he's going back into it so why would he leave something like that -- I would never give up dancing for the world."
Heeseung sighs and runs his fingers through his hair, "I guess it's quite complicated, Riki," he begins and Riki looks around, biting onto the edge of his lip as guilt funnels up. He knows what's about to ensue and he doesn't know if he can hear his name in a bad context anymore. "I mean, me and Sunghoon became friends right after he quit because he was trying to get away from the only friend he had at the time."
"What?" Riki squints and leans in closer, heart racing as he already know who Heeseung is referring to, "Sunghoon quit skating because of his friend-"
"No, not exactly," Heeseung tries to reframe his sentence but to no avail as Riki has already asked this exact situation to Jake about a dozen times, "The guy Sunghoon was friends with, Jake, I think," Riki cringes and hopes it's not obvious to the older. "He started 'ruining' skating for Sunghoon I guess you could say."
