Since this weekend, Rory's words had not left me.

"Love from other people isn't based on accomplishments or conditions."

But when you grow up with a family like mine, unless you do something stellar, no one is going to spare you a glance.

And if you screw up, they will never let you forget it. If you get yourself into a shithole, you best get yourself out. Cause no one else will be there to help you.

I figured if I did nothing, I couldn't risk making a mistake. I could just hand a task over to someone else. Someone who had a perfect track record.

No matter what I did, I would never be good enough.

A text message from the lady herself snapped me out of my thoughts.

Pixie: Hey! ☺️ I need to talk to you.

Pixie: Are you busy?

I didn't even hesitate in replying.

Me: in my room.

Me: come in whenever

Me: i need to talk to you too

I never would've imagined something so small could make such a huge difference in someone's day.

In a matter of moments, the door to my room creaked open. The first thing I noticed was the snowflakes powdered amidst her dark curls.

Her gaze instantly to the vase of flowers sitting on my piano. "Oh, they arrived already? They weren't supposed to get here until tomorrow."

When Tohma came in with the vase of skeleton flowers, I thought he had hit his head on the way up to my room. No one ever sent me flowers. Hell, I had never received flowers. I still kept them until I would figure out who they were from. They were pretty...

They were also one of my mother's favorites.

At our house, she had a massive garden with flowers and plants no one would even think about having.

"Those are from...you?" my brows knitted.

She nodded, "Yeah...this was kinda my way of saying 'thank you' for dealing with my family this past weekend."

Aurora Castillo got me flowers.

She already held the world in her eyes. When she looked at me, she made me feel like I was the entirety of it.

I felt a heat blooming in my face, "Thanks, pixie."

Aurora Victoria De La Rosa Castillo got me flowers.

"What did you need to talk to me about?" I asked, changing the subject.

We sat on the couch and she told me the details of her current investigation on Sinostra. How students had disappeared.

I'm not exactly jumping for joy at the fact she got sent alone. At least I would trust those in Sinostra rather than those in Vagastrom. They were much easier to predict.

And a small hint of pride lit up in me when she described scaring the shit out of the Vice Captain.

She went on, "When I got Kaito out of there, he and I were chatting and he mentioned something about a girl in a tower."

I raised a brow, "So he's describing Rapunzel."

"Not just that," she fully turned her body to face me, "Here's the fun bit. When I asked him what he did on a certain day, he couldn't remember. He was insistent he went into a forest and he saw a girl in a tower."
