Tohma: I just finished speaking to the academy regarding our request.
Me: What did they say
Tohma: Going forward, they will not disclose details of any Institute personnel to anyone inside or outside the Institute.
Tohma: What's more, it seems to have been a decision from the top. The chances of it changing are slim.
Me: Why am I not fucking surprised. You'd think they'd do a better job of covering their asses if they were just gonna make us wait this long.
Me: Just like my piece of shit father to only look out for himself.
Tohma: Yes. He reminds me of someone I know.
Me: You got a death wish fucker
Tohma: My, so violent.
Tohma: Shall I bring you a book on anger management?
Me: Don't compare me to him unless you wanna die.
Tohma: A tall order, I'm afraid.
Tohma: I need you to become the president of the Institute, you see. If you're to surpass your father, you must learn to view yourself under an objective lens.
Tohma: Something you're well aware of, I'm sure.
Me: President my ass
Me: All he does is lay back while a bunch of people are groveling at his feet and pissing their pants over the unknown
Tohma: Exactly. And that is why it should be your utmost priority to improve the state of things.
Me: Thank you for your opinion you shameless fucker

This was the fifth time I had looked at these damn documents. The names of the victims. Their recent activities. It was all starting to blur together. Nothing seemed to be making sense. I looked it over a sixth time.
The only thing the ten individuals had in common were their reported symptoms. Dazed expressions. Disinterested in eating. Trouble sleeping. Chills and high fevers. Vomiting. All of this would lead up to their last breath. Health officials thought it was a new ailment, but the Academy believed an anomaly was to blame.
Rory would get this figured out in no time. Maybe I should-
I pushed the thought out of my mind.
I hadn't heard from her since the Vagastrom incident last week. She hadn't texted me either. Not that I expected her to. I told her to notify me if she needed help. I deemed her silence as a good thing.
Yet, I was getting annoyed with myself. I shouldn't be wanting to find out how she is. It was a one time occurrence. She probably wants nothing to do with me.
I thought accepting an investigation order seemed like a good way to get her out of my head. What a terrible idea that was.
Not wanting to drive myself crazy with a seventh look, I tossed the folder aside and headed to the piano. My fingertips grazed over the keys. I didn't even know what I wanted to play. The music notes became jumbled with text from the investigation document.
The door to my room creaked open. Tohma stepped in, "Jin, you have a visitor."
"Tell them to fuck off."

FanficI thought coming to Darkwick Academy would be just like the other schools I attended. I go to class, go on missions, go to bed. Repeat. Now, I'm left with more questions than answers about this school and the ghouls among the student body.
